Hey just wondering who Dove Admin is? :-)

Actually I am testing a QWK Polling Script for ZOC and need an exportable message :-)

We don't really have an Admin, but TK would be the head of the net basicaly... :)

While I have tried to do the best I could for Dove Net, I nor anyone else was really the head of the net for the last couple of years. I have been the central hub, and I am a tyrant as we all well know. (hehehehe)

Anyway, for the record, I am now polling Vert. With Digital Man back in the picture, and running Vert again, I say we just treat it just like the old days. If anyone is the boss here let it be Rob. After all he started this mess, and we have all tried to keep it going in the same spirit it was created in.

So Vert is the central hub again then?

No, The Talamasca is still the main hub for any bbs's polling Dove Net. At this time a couple of people are polling Vert as part of the beta testing process.
If and when Rob wants to act as central hub I am sure he will let us know.
Part of my participation in Beta testing is maintaining The Talamasca in the same capacity as it has always been, a solid reliable free place to get Dove and the other nets. I will continue to do so.

QWKnet topology does not really dictate a "central" hub. Take for example:

    VERT
    |_TALAMASC
    |_YOURBBS
    |_HISBBS
    |_HERBBS
    |_THEIRBBS

For someone to send netmail from YOURBBS to THEIRBBS, the route would not go through VERT (even though, technically VERT is the hub for TALAMASC).

In a QWKnet topology, the hub with the most nodes is the "central" hub. It's not a title, it's a state. Right now (and for the foreseeable future), Talamasca is still the DOVE-Net "central" hub. :-)

This argument arises now and again.

The nature of the QWK network means that there is no official central hub as such. ANY SysOp that's willing can be the hub for ANY SysOp that's needy.

There is no need for anyone to poll any specific hub (formally designated the central hub or otherwise). Everyone just needs to poll the most convenient location FOR THEM.

That's what being a network means. Any point of connection is as good as any other.

Great message except I don't believe that it is a mess. I have the
latest and greatest Winserver sitting at home in a box, ran wc4.20
for 3 years. Finally went to Synchronet(I've actually talked to both
Allen and Rob by phone). When 3.0 is ready will get ISDN and run it that
way. TK I'm not chewing you out I just feel that Sync was the best
BBS software ever programmed and when everyone finds out what Rob is
doing we should see a great prolification of Sync boards on the net.
