Well the cicadas are out after 17 years. articles are saying everyone eats them! we call them tree shrimp. no we do not.

Anyways, people are going to state parks and harvesting them and dnr is mad. https://www.wisn.com/article/wisconsin-dnr-issues-warning-harvesting-cicadas-illegal-wisconsin/61244222

Supposedly this is being pushed the most by rich, and often European,
people, like Bill Gates and some guy named Schwab.

Agreed. No we do not. ;)

Anyways, people are going to state parks and harvesting them and dnr is mad.

Are they mad because people are doing it, or because someone was aggressive
in getting them to do their jobs?

Either way, that is pretty wild that people would be out harvesting them.

well the dnr's game wardens are pretty decent around here.
I just think one person really brought it to their attention.

doing a mass genocide on these horrible cicadas could affect the ecosystem. they basically evolved to do this 17 year cycle so they wouldn't be wiped out, as well.

Either way, that is pretty wild that people would be out harvesting them.

There have been a lot of articles in my area saying where the bugs are and doing an 'everyone's doing it' article about collecting them and eating them.

The folks who will eat them will be those who believe they are "doing
something to save the environment" by not eating meat, all the while the collectors are wiping out cicadas.

Either way, that is pretty wild that people would be out harvesting them.

Hmmm, I remember some folks suggesting that they could/should be eaten back when we had an emergence event around 15 years ago. Those things were everywhere. They were warning about another emergence here this year, but
I have not seen or heard any this year. Only time I have heard any was
when I traveled about an hour west. It was so hot that day, they didn't
come out and start making noise until sundown.

In some Autonomies in Spain they are denying farming licenses "to save the planet". It does not matter you can produce chickens and eggs like crazy if you can't produce them at scale.

Then there is the fact both the EUR and the USD have lost a lot of power worldwide since the sphere of influence of the Western block has shrunk. Now there is more currency than people can handle, so prices naturally raise.

Officially it is the autonomies only, for now. It is not even an initiative from the Spanish central government.

Lots of reasons, the culling being one. We own chickens. The price of feed is up significantly, and many brands are made by Purina. Purina and Tractor Supply were within the news (and all over social media platforms) as making food that was slowing if not stopping the production of eggs. As soon as people changed brands, their chickens
    started laying again.

But our gov't assures us that we are much better off now than we were then...

If you notice what period they are comparing to, a lot of times they are comparing to 2020 alone... you know, when we had COVID and rioters everywhere... and not the whole of the 4 years of Trump's administration.

I always point out that the question should be are you as well off now as
you were in *2019*, which was before COVID.

That answer for me is that I am doing OK but, no, not better than 2019.
There has been no period since 2019 that I can say I am doing better than
    2019.

The only people who honestly believe they are would likely be the ones
whose feelings are no longer being hurt, or who have been appointed to the current administration.
