David,
So, whats everyone doing these days on the air?
Mostly nets. I run D-Star Nets every night of the week except
Wednesday, when I check into an Echolink and a D-Star Net. I also ch
into a packet net (via telnet) on Monday. Otherwise, all my nets are
D-Star.
However, being caregiver for my elderly Mom has make the hobbies t
a bit of a back seat for awhile.

you might change the one in scfg->networks->fidonet->default origin
line, though... if you don't want the cherryville one any more...
SCFG->Networks->FidoNet->Default Origin line? If not there, then maybe in Options->EchoMail Origin Line (normally this field is blank/unused).

i never use individual origins for specific echo areas... i use only the ML>default one specifically to avoid problems like this ;) so here's my quote f ML>my first message...
With all the stress I've been under over the last month with moving
back to my Mom's home, getting her into a nursing home, dealing with the finances surrounding it, and then with modem/router/internet issues, I'm going to have a lot of catching up to do on the BBS. My QWK packet was 2131k, but I will NOT read all the back messages.

-0400... today has been a long day... we had to dig test pits in raw woods/forest today... lots of vines and undergrowth making it hard
the pits dug, we ran some penetration tests to see how firm the soil material is at that point... one of our holes was 25 feet (7.62 meters) deep... some grueling work at times climbing up and working on the
slopes in those conditions...
I'm also glad to see one area after another come back to life again.
Since Florence and other weather disasters only the SYSOP echo has
been alive.
SYSOP? hummm... i know there are several sysop echos but i remember
PS: you really need to get your fidonet system somehow connected to
the internet so you can get messages faster and be connected to more systems for messages... sadly i'm no longer doing POTS connections

It's a fact of life that all upward slopes are taxing. ;o)

The echo is FN_SYSOP the 'INTERNATIONAL FIDONET SYSOP ECHO' as it states in the description.

I know but first of all I'm in no hurry to get messages faster because I won't get more time to do them and I have no users that wont other areas than I carry,
but I actually have a more modern machine to set in after I can
find/get hold of PCI card containing a PS/2 mouse socket.
Whatever else there is on that card won't matter because the one I
have does have only one USB port and an IrConnector in addition to the PS/2.
As a last resort I could use an USB mouse but that leaves only 2 USB's
for other uses on the 3-port USB card.
yeah, ours are currently

to know what the soil material is like and how much weight it can

and concrete pads the structures will be built on...

you do know that USB HUBs exist, right? you plug on into a USB port
and now you have more USB ports... IIRC, USB can handle up to 256
devices on each port/channel...
ARRL usually sent a bulletin specifying its operating hours for bulletin HG>bradcasts but it hasn't arrived yet even though we are today at the
first sunday of november.

They usually don't send it until the first business day after the
time change occurs. It likely will be out later today sometime.

Hello Don,
May I ask, what was "a morse intercept operator"?
Sorry for the long winded reply...
Cougar
aka Don
I got licensed in 1998, but have only been active on hf since field day
of 2018 or so.
Mainly I operate cw and voice every once in a while. I live in a HOA
area so I just have a simple dipole I put up for weekend operating most
of the time.

Don, appreciate the reply. It was very interesting. Your job in the military was very much harder than mine, I'm sure. I fixed the radio's that you were probably using, or similiar.
