    GE Ed,

I ain't meaning to nit pick but 11-16-17 was a Thursday, wasn't it?

YES it was, you're correct and the same error is on the top line of this message. Nov. 21st 2017 was a Tuesday. Spooky!

I did now check everything I can set from the operating system, but
there's no way to tell the OS the weekday name, so I'll probably have to
reboot the machine to get at the BIOS settings.

As the Subject says the problem is now solved.

It wasn't in the BIOS, but in the head of the user. There is a variable
in the QWK-program named @DAY@ that I had used in the replay string but
it gave the name of the day when I replied to the msg.

There's another variable, @MSGDATE@ that I also use in that string, and
that one picks the date from the message in the QWK-packet.

Now, there's no day-of-week to pick from the QWK-packet so the program
picks that weekday from the system instead.

I have now experimented with various variants of the init string and
found that I simply have to abstain of the use of the weekday.

This message may still use one of the experimental strings, but from now
on, the weekday will disappear from all replies.

    VERY GOOD!

It wasn't in the BIOS, but in the head of the user. There is a variable

HMMM, did some of the FOG in Ed's Head [TM] excape and traveled through the Ether to Your part of the world.
NAH!, it couldn't do that, or could it.

in the QWK-program named @DAY@ that I had used in the replay string but
it gave the name of the day when I replied to the msg.

    OUCH!!!!!

Now, there's no day-of-week to pick from the QWK-packet so the program picks that weekday from the system instead.

And No Reason for Ed to originate another message about observing what
    puzzled Him.

I have now experimented with various variants of the init string and
found that I simply have to abstain of the use of the weekday.

I was proud to see that I (FINALLY) got MM to type that line for Me.
You know how lazy a LID can be.

I will have to look in MM's DOC's to see what they say about those @DAY@
    and @MSGDATE@ Variables. Another ROUNDTUIT................

But I do like learning, and am glad that I still can.

The pass three weeks I've tried to help a neighbor get His DELL Precision
M20 XP notebook to let Him use Wi-Fi on it.

And I knew nothing about how Wi-Fi worked on His pc, and still don't know
much after finally stumbling on what it takes to get the Wi-Fi LED to
    light up on His notebook.

When I got a new Epson All-In-One a few years ago, the first thing I did
to IT was turn the Wi-Fi Setting OFF on it, since I have Cables connected
to everything I use with My computer stuff.

He let me take it home with me and when I took the notebook back to Him,
He told me that He decided to buy a Nextbook Tablet and put the DELL in a closet.

That is what "Head Scratching" I've been doing while You've been Solving
the Problem I started about Your BBS message DOW (Day-Of-Week).

OK, but please note above that the weekday isn't mentioned.
    Only the date and time.

I will have to look in MM's DOC's to see what they say about those
@DAY@ and @MSGDATE@ Variables. Another ROUNDTUIT................

I'll have to check the variables in MM. I do have the OS/2 version
installed here, but have only done some sporadic checks of it.

The pass three weeks I've tried to help a neighbor get His DELL
Precision M20 XP notebook to let Him use Wi-Fi on it.

My Dell laptop shows immeadetely if there are any WiFi connections
available. Most of them are secured with passwords but there's one
free available at a hotell near me that I have used some time when
my ordinary WiFi did not connect.

Also both my Lenovo laptops do show available WiFi hotspots but they
need some work to connect because they use WinXP.

When I got a new Epson All-In-One a few years ago, the first thing I
did to IT was turn the Wi-Fi Setting OFF on it, since I have Cables connected to everything I use with My computer stuff.

    OK.
