I HAVE seen, over the years, there were alot of HAM radio/BBS's in my
area in the 90's. Curious what's the connection?
I am not a HAM so I may not be the best person to answer this but, if you search on youtube, you will find some videos of HAMs logging into a HAM radio "BBS." Search for "Packet Radio Bulletin Board."
I am sure there are other links as well, but that is the connection that comes to my mind.

Locally we did also have a packet radio BBS operating at 1200 bps on 2m but because I found it too slow I made a 70cm (432 MHz) transceiver for 9600 bps packet radio.
When I had it going the local club decided to close down the packet
radio system. Consequently I added a microphone and speaker amplifiers
and had a 70cm transceiver.
Transceiver is a combined transmitter/receiver in one unit.
So much this time. Any further questions will be replied to another
time

I was wondering if the circuit used IC's or XSISTORS only or did it
have Vacuum Tubes in it?
Is the Schematic for it on some Web Site?
I ain't built any circuits for ages but I would like to see the
Schematic for the Rig You built for packet radio, and later added
Audio to it (for A.M. I suppose?).

Thanks for the Birthday Message ED over on Classic Computers.
I did not reply there as I did not want to upset Sean having noted all
his off topic warning POSTS :-) :-

In my previous message I asked if the audio for Your RIG was AM,
in thinking about it I remembered when I used 2 M Packet my RIG was
set for FM. Duh. Sorry for the dumb question earlier.
I usually prefer the german version if the publisher is in Germany
That's good!, I'd figure the Part Numbers on the Schematic would be
easy to understand since (I think) all electronic parts from
manufacturers in European Countries would use the same Standard
Markings.
The catalog had most of the tubes that He needed to get.

Would the Magazines December issue include a Yearly Index?
Search on DuckDuckGo for the URL for the CQ DL and UKW Beriche
Last month in another BBS Network echo on this BBS I noticed some CW
in the Signature of a message, so I wrote a message to let the
fellow know that I saw the CW that said the Name of His BBS in His
message.

The detector of course detects the signal and how you want to process
it further is up to you.
AM isn't used in these woods. To use the rig as a 70cm transceiver the mode is of course FM.
Would the Magazines December issue include a Yearly Index?
Depending on the magazine, the index may be either in the december or january issue. The trick is of course to know which year.
Search on DuckDuckGo for the URL for the CQ DL and UKW Beriche
Try 'VHF communications' instead of UKW Berichte.

All repeaters here sign their callsign with morse.

MY dad was big into CB'ing to back in the 70's and 80's. I was born in '71, I remember my Dad being so big into it, he had the BIG car
Antenna, this under car dash mount (with his 8-track tape too,
ofcourse!) Ahh... the memories!

So can relate to this!!! Born '72 here! ;) My dad had his last CB setup in his new F-150 in the mid 80's like you described your dads!

I was big time into the CB back in 78-82. I got my "handle" HusTler
and now use it in BBS land. I met a lot of ladies on that darn thing. I could tell you some great CB stories... Pull up a chair..

Yep! I remember having an 8 track to cassette converter :-)
I was born in 67
I like geting older, I used to dread in my 20's reaching my 50's! I'm 47, and I love it! Although I've found grey in 'unseen' areas I don't like!:\
i used to have salt'n'pepper but now it is all white... even my beard has (finally) come in and is all white... my hair has been all white for ~5 years or so... maybe closer to 10... i'm closing in on 60 pretty quickly...

My first gray that I noticed was once I was shaving. I should point out that I wear a gotee...
But anyway, I'm shaving then washing the 'left over' shaving cream from my face and some won't wash out. It was gray in my 'beard.' LOL

The older you get the only thing that goes fast or faster IS time, it seems! :\
I've actually thought about joining one of those hair clubs, I have my hairline, but have the balding spot in the middle of my head, so I just shave it all off! hehe
I'm closing in on 50....quickly....
I passed that mark over a year ago. ;)
shave it all off! hehe
I've still got a full head of hair (good genes), and it's still only got a little grey. ;)

Lucky lucky... damn my parents! :D
It's not a finish line, just another lap (of the sun) done. :D You don't want to hear a bell ringing at that point, because then you're on your last lap. :D

Hahaha and the rest of me is holding up pretty well. That's both good luck (genes) and good management (lots of training). :)

Hehe!!!
I used to go to the barbershop every week, I had the same haircut for
the last 5 or so years, faded, and thin on top. I remember, like it was yesterday! (I wish it was!) when I finally started going bald, I
thought my barber messed up my hair! I went home, got in the shower, looked in the mirror, and I thought I cut my hair too then on the top
of my head! I didn't wanna believe I was going bald! So I rushed back
to the shop to complain!! hahaha
We had a good (tearful!) laugh about it! I started to just cut it all
off, so I
DID save some money! ;)
Well, the last 7 days training:
Wed - Gym (legs and upper body), then a lassage, followed by some light javelin throwing. Thu - Track session - Warmup, drills then 5 x 80m at 85% effort (which is enough to get me to around 30 km/h these days!) Fri - Gym (core) followed by yoga. Sat - 3.3km cross country relay leg. Sun - Track session - warmup, 6 x 200m with reducing rest, then gym (legs and core) Mon - 3km treadmill and gym (core) Tue - Today! - warmup, 5 x 300m at 1km pace (roughly).

This time of year, my focus is on general fitness - strength, power, endurance, flexibility, while doing enough speed work to maintail my basic skills, without being overtaxing. I also have to regularly work on acceleration repition, because that is the weak part of my race, despite having more power than average. So far, repetition is my friend there.
You wouldn't be the first who's asked for my help, or that I've given help to with their fitness. :)

to make it more of my routine. I actually been losing weight over the last 2 months. I feel healthier!
