Hello, All!

I'm the owner of a new aquarium. It's my first one-very small, just a two-gallon acrylic. I've got a lemon tetra (Colonel Mustard) and a bloodfin tetra (Scarlet) in there. Things are going well-they've survived the past week
in good shape. Tomorrow, I'm replacing 10% of their water with fresh treated water (just two cups' worth). Besides the usual bubbles on the water from the airstone, it's clean in there.

What I'm wondering is if the lemon tetra prefers to bottom-feed. Scarlet is on
the spot when it's feeding time-she's up there tearing a bigger flake into a small one (I do crush the flakes), but the ol' Colonel just sits there. I don't actually see him eat. Are lemon tetras more prone to eating from the bottom of the tank?

The fish are in the last three pictures. The cat is our cat, Tigger, and the dog is my wife's (Maura) dog, Kali, who lives with Maura's mother. The third picture is of a crawdad who somehow wandered up to our porch when we lived in Southern Illinois a few years ago.

That I can't help you with, never had a lemon tetra. I currently have a
29H gallon with 2 rather large angel fish, and we keep neon tetras in
my wife's tank

Ah, well, nice to be back, thanks. ;) I think I'll stick to freshwater fish for now. I'm still working on keeping my tetras alive. Today, I'm going to change some of the water for the first time... I rinsed out a SunnyD container last night, put two cups of water in it and some dechlorinator in the container. It's been sitting for about 12 hours now with the lid off. Hopefully we'll see how well the fishies do with the water change.

I have some friends that have angel fish. Rather nasty creatures to smaller fish. <G> But they're very beautiful. As for neons, I had some years ago and I promptly killed them, so I'll keep working with the hardier tetras and hopefully someday I can have a nice big tank with a bunch of schooling fish. :)

Yes-we were able to pay a year's rent up front, so we got a small apartment (quite possibly one of the smallest I've ever lived in, save for the military).
I'm working at Office Depot as the furniture department specialist, but sadly, even though the people are nice, the pay sucks and though I work nearly fourty hours a week, I'm still considered "part-time". Needless to say, I'm starting to look for more work.

Other than that, things are fine. It's nice to have my parents and grandparents so close to me after being apart for nearly eleven years. It's only a six-hour drive to my wife's mother's home, so weekend trips aren't too bad (save for the gas cost!).

Once I get things a little more settled with a bigger desk, et cetera, I'll have to post a picture of the board. ;)

I usually use 3 5 gallon bottles, fill them up and just let the sit for
24 hours, no water treatment of sorts, just give it time for the
chlorine to evaporate. Seems to work out ok.

Yea, Angels can be kinda mean, I put a new pleco catfish in a few weeks
ago, along with him came one of those little clear shimps, the little
shrimp didn't last too long in there. Only problem was the pleco was
sick or something, killed 2 of my angels before I caught it (had 4
angels). Kinda ticked me off, but not much I can really do about it
except stop buying fish from Petland :)
