• Hello.

Hey everyone... I'm an old Sysop from way back when Rob charged for the software... I've toyed with Sync for a bit since then, and was pleased that it became available freely.. :) At least that $500 went somewhere useful, eh, Rob? ;)

Anyway, I noticed that this message board doesn't seem to get a lot of attention... And that everyone seems to be moving over to the JS code...

I for one, like Baja. It's simple, easy to understand, and I've done some very amazing things with it, that quite simply put, are IMPOSSIBLE to do on any other BBS software out there. This includes Renegade, Telegard, Obv/2, RemoteAccess, WileCat!, TBBS, WWIV, etc.... NOTHING... And I say, NOTHING... compares to the flexibility and power that Baja ALONE provides.

Yes, it's old. Yes, it can be difficult to work with... But it's still the best thing for beginners to work with. I don't know JavaScript, I've worked with it *a little* on web pages... and I will learn it, and probably move to it... But I've seen a lot of messages flying in here about how antiquated it is, and how it's nearing it's end of life in its usefulness...

To this, I simply say "Bullshit."

    Long live Baja!

Well, that depends. :) It's been a long time since I wrote anything, and am actually relearning it right now. My login screen is shaping up nicely though.
What do you have in mind?

I'm omving things from WINS to Synchronet and I wanted to keep WINS as a game server... I have all the sunrise games registered in that native 32bit format.

Anyway, I wanted to automate the logon process.... My wife is an acutual programmer... but she doesn't take much interest in what I do on the BBS... it might be more involved than I thinnk.... but I may get her asking a few questions and get her to do it in java

More than likely that will be the case.

Hey, haven't heard back from you on what you'd like done... I'd be more than happy to see what I can do, if it CAN be done with Baja, but ya gotta throw me a bone and tell me what it is you're wanting... ;)

:) I'm going to make my wife do it... :) I think putting up with her
anal retentive programming attitude makes me good for one java script.

if WINS supports RLogin, then you just need to enable that.. iirc, you can strip down the amount of your login for the WINS server, remove all
notices, and make the login a simple
    %
    user:
    pass:

without ansi, etc.. in the beginning of the js, you pass through any bytes
read from the socket, to the bbs client, and vice-versa, until you "read"
a '%' from there, you enter the username and password, however, if the
user isn't *in* the wins system, you need a way of creating the account.
