• Windows 95 and SBBS

From Jim King@TALAMASC to ALL on Saturday, November 20, 1999 08:56:00
Ok I have a couple of logon events that are giving me fits. Perhaps
someone else has delt with this.

I run my BBS as a window. It is not always the main (focus) window. If
it isn't the main window (focus) these two programs hang up until they
are the focus. Both were written for Sync. They both use Xtrn.dat files

    Domain Bulletin
    Synchronet Users Security System (SUSS)

Is there some reason for this?
Or a setting I am missing?

    * OLX 2.2 TD * Proofread carefully to see if you any words out.

Running as a window is a big mistake. Windows take alot longer to write the screens in a window than it does full screen.

In the properties for a node you want to run

    Full screen
    Maximised
Idle sensitivity to the lowest, all the way to the left.
    suspend in background turned off
    screen savers not allowed

These setting are vital. Leave all the rest of the setting alone.

But unfortunately, I only have a single computer for the one node.

I use it while I am on the net to you too. (-: I have finished a session
on the net to see one or more users have called and played their games
and logged off. Mostly it works.

I had it like this with 3.1 oy I have an AMD 233 pushing electrons
around. BTW what's the difference between the first two recommendations? Otherwise I have those settings already.

This is a very STUPID post.

All that juvenile ANSI stuff just makes it impossible to read.

Gee Angus why not say what's really on your mind? You may have noticed
this just appeared and hasn't been used but a very few times. I was experimenting with color.

    Take a pill!

I was discussing settings with TK around Windows. Why are you so
aggressive? What has age got to do with anything? I guess I miss the
    point of your message.

I'm not going to pretend to understand you reply fully. But if your
referring to to the tagline(s) about
"We've up our standards, so up yours"

That was a quote from Penn Jillette on the Comedy Central TV spot.

It was a joke. Which you didn't get because it was camouflaged with ANSI
    escape sequences.

Actually I had used it (sans ANSI) in other chat situations last year.

Here it is without the color:

*\/*We've upped our standards, SO UP YOURS!*\/*
    *\/*Seasons Greetings*\/*

Now if your still upset, well rest assured it has been retired and this
will no doubt be the last time I use it.

If now on the other hand I missed your intention completely...
    disregard the above.
