You're the one going around pulling bullshit.
How, by you unzipping and rezipping Renegade and saying you made a better archive?
all i did was work with jesse and make some sense out of the mess.
then i called it an unoffical version for people to download.
I was talking to Cott on Linkedin the other day, and he had no problem with me and Renegade. I don't see why you are so butt hurt.
bullshit. he will not talk to anybody about renegade.
I'm sure he wouldn't care if a monkey was running renegade, though. He was glad to let it go.
Wow, look folks, he got one right. I DIDN'T buy Renegade. Because I was the one asshole that after everyone else GAVE UP on it, went and looked to see if
I could get Patrick to add a toggles menu to the logon, and he gave me the
Patrick spense refused help many times. he also refused to pass it on all the time. I had a team of people that wanted to work on it and he told them all to fuck off.
Just like YOU, he wanted to be the renegade developer. He wanted to be the guy with his name on it.
code to keep it alive. Cut 3 years later when Jeff had a hissy fit like a little girl and released the y2k source because he was mad Renegade was being worked on.
I don't even think jeff knew you were playing around with it.
Jeff released it because he loaned patrick a bunch of hardware and he didn't give it back and Patrick was ignoring him.
to Renegade and editable (like 99% of the strings), so you can make it look/act however you want. But you never were the one that wanted to take the easy way ... always trying to play on other people's work with making a "cool batch file" or "rezipping an archive because you think it's better to have doors installed" ...
that's absolutely not true. You're just upset that people used that piece of shit i made. I am in no way a renegade developer. i just put it up there because i figured it would be useful for people.
the way your guy did things, it was a huge pain in the ass to update through various versions.
You don't even post from your OWN board. If you love Rob that much, stay on Dovenet and leave the rest of the world out of this.
I am posting on my own board. it's just gated to rob's board.
I run 4 bbses but I'm going to take down graveyard for good because i'm sick of using that shitty renegade software.
to everyone, but it won't work because I'm here.
Most wish you weren't. But I like you .... a lot.
if you knew me you'd know i don't care what people think.
and I'm not a fan of jason scott but he sure hit the nail on the head:
"Note from Jason Scott: For a number of years while I worked on the BBS documentary, I came into contact with a good number of the developers for Renegade software. To say there's some miscommunication between different parties is an understatement. Part of the problem (if it can be called that) is that first of all, Renegade was a popular BBS program, meaning there was significant worth and value placed on feature development and work, meaning more pressure for whoever announced they were working on it. Second, the software's source code has been tightly controlled since its creation, meaning that only authorized parties could develop it. This meant a small web of trust, and also meant that if whoever was developing the software wasn't doing so to the satisfaction of the large (non-paying) audience, they recieved an awful lot of grief. Finally, Windows' acceptance and dominance of the x86 platform meant that Renegade's development was stalled at several critical junctures. As mentioned above, work has continued, but there are a lot of broken hearts and bad feelings left behind with this program."
