Hello everybody.
I have downloaded a QWKE packet from my BBS and tried to read
it with my MultiMail for Mac, but when it tries to open the
file the MultiMail crashes and it goes back to the Terminal
prompt.
I'll try to install a Windows VM here to open it using
Windows, but would anyone have any recommendations? As we don't
have a specific forum for offline mail readers, I thought this
one here would suffice :)

Try another reader, like Bluewave or OLX on DosBox. ;-)

I did get and replied to your net mail about the OFFLINE area. Did you get it? Maybe I'll resend it directly to your node.

Not sure about OLX. Originally put out by Mustang Software (who also
did the SLMR (Silly Little Mail Reader) QWK Reader, and Wildcat BBS software), I don't think OLX is registerable anymore. I was lucky
enough to register my copy several years ago. I'm running it in a DOS window under Windows 7 32-bit.
I was using Multi-Mail for a time, but went back to OLX, as the only real benefits I saw with MM were longer taglines, and where you could import text via Windows Notepad. I can make it work with shorter
taglines, and rarely used the text import feature.
I'm using Multi-Mail now. Not 100% happy with it, but it works. What I REALLY wish is that I had one that is MAC native.

There is an OSX version of MultiMail. There are different architectures for the Mac though, so maybe it was never compiled on one or the other.

Do you have the appropriate archiver installed on your Mac?

I am running MultiMail on MacOS, so I have the following
configs:
- Compress using zip -jkq
- Uncompress using unzip -joLq

Yeah, I've compiled 0.50 for the Intel Macs (and Windows and OS/2 *smiles*) and as such it's available for download on my main
system at winserver.org.

If I recall correctly, you are using Mystic? We found that the indexes generated by that built-in offline door are bad, and the messages don't load correctly into my Bluewave reader. If Multimail has a place to configure it, set it so it will build indexes.... That might help.

Yes, I use zip and unzip.
OLX? Uniqwk?
None of them are QWKE-compatible. ;(
