Hi Ben,
About "FYI: Telnet Shim" of December 8 and "TelnetPort online" of
December 9:
TNPort02.ZIP 30,111 11-29-04 15:32:28 To bridge the gap between
a DOS Packet Driver like PPPD and an Int14/Fossil driven Terminal...
So, if i got you right, there are now two sources for this release:
http://www.filegate.net/utiln/utilnet/tnport02.zip
(30111 Bytes, 2004-Nov-29)
http://bellsouthpwp.net/c/m/cmech617/tnport02.zip
(29847 Bytes, 2004-Nov-29)

...with ZMoDem transfers...
^^^^^^
*BOTH* ways and i also evaluated `Kermit' transfers with v0.1 (when
i heard of it on October 12): the rates i observed with `RLFossil' were
about 18 % slower in comparison! I'm afraid i haven't tried `TelNetPORT
v0.2' in a
telnet://guest.sailor.lib.md.us session yet (i failed to make
it work when i used its `ZMoDem' with mine, actually). 8,-( Anyway. I happened to install Doug Kaufman's DOS "port" of `Lynx v2.8.5rel.1' this
week and it's clear THIS ~TELNET~ SHIM IS WELL SUITED FOR USE BY `LYNX'!
8-)
`TCPPort.EXE' is ALREADY PRESENT in Doug's package but i didn't see
how to activate it since i'm not well acquainted with `Lynx v2.8.5' yet,
so... Euh... I was wondering: would you know, by any chance, how that
late DROP-IN REPLACEMENT from Richard J. Backus should fit out there?...
;^)
After all, it's a one-time session when a ~TelNet~ link is actuated
inside `Lynx' and no Virtual ~TelNet~ Hayes-compatible MoDem "Shim" like `RLFossil' is required IN THIS PARTICULAR CASE - which makes `TelNetPORT
v0.2' a perfect candidate for the task!!! I was thinking of `MS-Kermit'
as the client at 1st because `Conex'/`ZMoDem' doesn't work on Sailor and `Conex'/`Kermit' isn't optimal but, euh... `Lynx v2.8.5' renders Sailor practically useless on Pentium machines so `Conex' must make good sense,
i suppose. I'm inclosing the ~URL~ to `Lynx', for your own convenience:

`Lynx v2.8.5rel.1' with `Open-SSL v0.9.7d' (2M4, 2004-Apr-18)
Be well...
You too and thanks for the gesture: i love to see DOS still alive!
Salutations, :)
