• Othernets not sending from outbound directories

From Allen Prunty@1:2320/100 to All on Sunday, September 04, 2016 16:03:06

    Hello everybody!

    I have another new problem.

I have several "Othernets" and we'll pick on fsxnet for the example... for now I am using fileboxes but want to convert everything to the native BSO of bink-d.

Anyhow... here's my domain configurations. I have no idea what the root domain
is. FSX Net is zone 22. I use fmail for my tosser and it insists on putting everything into c:\binkd\outbound.015 and bink D is virtually ignoring that directory. All the .clo and outbound files go there.

    -----Snip-----------------------------------------

    # Your FTN domains:
    # domain <name> <main-outbound> <default-zone> [<root-domain>]
    # or
    # domain <new-name> alias-for <name>
    # First specified domain sets as default domain for the 3D/4D addresses.
    #
    domain fidonet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
    domain fsxnet c:\\binkd\\outbound 21
    domain dorenet c:\\binkd\\outbound 44
    domain retronet c:\\binkd\\outbound 80
    domain dixienet c:\\binkd\\outbound 901
    domain UseNet c:\\binkd\\outbound 999

    ----End Snip-------------------

In desperation I've tried to put the directory for FSX net to

domain fsxnet c:\\binkd\\outbound.015 21 and I get this in the log.

    -+- log

    + 04 Sep 15:27:10 [36880] Reloading configuration...
? 04 Sep 15:27:10 [36880] there should be no extension for the base outbound name
? 04 Sep 15:27:10 [36880] error in configuration, using old config

    -+-

Yet I can't seem to get this to send mail from any of my "othernets". I'm totally unsure what to do at this point.

Change all of those zones to 1 and I think you'll be OK. Only use the actual zone if your tosser is 5D

    domain fsxnet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1

    Hi Allen!

    04 Sep 2016 16:03, from Allen Prunty -> All:

    domain fidonet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
The above is OK, set the rest of the zones also to 1

    domain fsxnet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
    domain dorenet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
    domain retronet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
    domain dixienet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1
    domain UseNet c:\\binkd\\outbound 1

Binkd will look automatically in the correct dir,
(outbound.xxx where xxx is the net number in hex)

I think this is explained in the Binkd FAQ.

I am running FMAIL and unfortunately it will put fsxnet's email in c:\\binkd\\outbound.015 when I put a 1 by all of them it only will toss to the c:\\binkd\\outbound directory. Unfortunately binkD ignores the .015 directory.

My fsxnet outbound is the same as yours, that's fine. FMail will toss stuff there for fsxnet. You just need binkd to find it.

    Frustrated

It can be frustrating at first. I found the answer in question #22 in the binkd
faq. It might help you too.

    Hi Allen!

    That is correct behaviour!
My HPT tosser does the same.

when I put a 1 by all of them it only will toss to the
    c:\\binkd\\outbound directory.

You need to modify the binkd config to inlcude the default zone (which is 1 for
    you and 2 for me)

Unfortunately binkD ignores the .015 directory.

    It works very nicely here.

Here is the relevant part from my binkd.cfg
    domain fidonet /home/fido/outbound 2 binkp.net
    domain fido alias-for fidonet
    domain fidonet.org alias-for fidonet
    domain linuxnet /home/fido/outbound 2
    domain amiganet /home/fido/outbound 2
    domain fsxnet /home/fido/outbound 2
    domain vkradio /home/fido/outbound 2
    domain retronet /home/fido/outbound 2

See also the BinkD FAQ as posted here.
