For the second time now in a few months, BinkD 1.1a-95 just randomly terminates with no error message, nothing in the log, no indication of any problem whatsoever, after a good month or so of uptime.

Why does this happen to ypu and apparently not to others. I have been
experimenting with DBridge for some time and I was surprised at the
way you trigger DBdrige for outgoing mail.
Under common circumstances binkd scans the outgoing directory every minit, and initiates transfers for outgoing mail. To me it looks like
you also refresh the config files, or its timestamp, to initiate a
mail scan.
There should be no harm in what you are doing, but on my system .e.g.
the configfile timestamp is only triggerd, when I change a config parameter and once a day when a new nodelist is generated.
So in general you may be refreshing the configfile more often as
others.

old software, last version is 1.1a-99
imho if there is bugs it very well important to use the last version of bugreports
As per the site download.binkd.org, Nick has the latest version for Win32. Does that not also get updated if there's a new version or hatchedon the
FTN?

that part is not a maintainer job, if the maintainer do a msdos compile of its done
software compiled in 2016 is old, if not possible to go forward updateing i should be possibel to go back to a more bugfree compiled version
I use software dating back to 1987 for certain operations here. Bug
free.

Just a question but do you run it as a service?
So...... because I run Windows, I'm given the giant middle-finger by
the developers given the last binary appears to be 2016?

I think my point is if there is an updated version of any flavor, code.
where can one find the latest version, whether it be compiled or just raw

indeed, its should not be hard for Nick to compile latest binkd for dos and test if that fixed the problem or not
i know this is what i am asked on linux if not updated to latest, then
one is on our own
I think you're missing the point. The issue is where does one find the source code to compile it, no matter what spice of OS one is using. As I said, I would normally get any updates via the FTN or on the website Iquoted
earlier.
Latest they have there is dated 2016.
