I belive Paul Casey used to run Searchlight under dbridge..... Unfortunately, he recently passed on so, I can't ask him questions.

I run Maximus under Binkley and use Binkd to handle BinkP protocol, and squish to process the mail. Since I'm running OS/2 using Ray Gwin's SIO package VMODEM suport, I have Binkley / Maximus supporting Telnet and Vmodem telnet connections..... As I understand things, Irex will handle the binkp protocol, along with some others.....

Since it sounds like you already have all but Binkley working, and since Paul had searchlight running under dbrige, I assume the main issue you need solved at this time is getting search light to run under a front end. From memory of seeing some of Paul's scripts in the past, this should be reasonable to do under Binkley. The main things I need from you are:

    (A) What operating system is your BBS running under?

    (B) What version of Binkley are you trying to use? I'm still using Binkley 2.60, which was the last "official" release by the orignal team. There are one
or two off shoot branches of the Binkley code that have additional features. I
might be able to get you running with version 2.60 and then leave it as an exercise to then upgrade to the later Binkley versions if that is what you want
    to run.

    (C) Is this being run with a live modem on a serial port, on a virtual modem setup (for telnet support) or both? If telnet support, what are you using for the virtual modem support?

    (D) Based on the above answers, this will limit the recommenations for the three options Binkley supports for starting the BBS. Under DOS (very old DOS),
I used to use the method where Binkley exited with a error level that defined the connection speed and then used the Binkley batch file to startup my BBS. Under OS/2 (my current setup), I believe I'm using the SPAWN BBS method, where binkley starts up the BBS as a sub-process.....

There are very few of us left in King County, WA, USA.... I would expect that you can dial my system (1:343/41) as a local call if you are using dialup. If you are using TCP protocols, use tophat.darktech.org for the address and Vmodem, Telnet or BinkP protocols. If you want to setup direct Fidonet links with me, please send a private netmail with a session password. Please note that for Binkley, the session password is case insensitive, but it is case sensitive for BinkP protocol (using BinkD on my end). Without a session password, I do not accept compressed mail packets for automatic processing.

    Thanks!!!

    You're welcome.

    Interesting route.....

I'm going to forward a copy of this in netmail. Normally, that would go directly from my machine to your NC's machine. Since the nodelist shows you supporting IBN protocol, I will attempt a direct delivery to you. Please establish a session passord if you want to keep the direct communications up.

    Hi.

I have the same setup except that I use Internet Rex for BinkD connections. How
do you use binkd with BinkleyTerm? Is Bink handling your vmodem connections for
mail tranfer? Souded like it and that's what I'd like to do, but I could be mistaken.

Mind to give me more info about your setup?

    Salut.
