When requesting a poll binkd connects and says the remote requests MD mode, another poll says the remote requests ND mode. What are these modes and what do
I need to do to allows these polls to connect.

    Hi Greg,

When requesting a poll binkd connects and says the remote requests MD mode,
another poll says the remote requests ND mode. What are these modes and what d
I need to do to allows these polls to connect.

These are switches you can use on the command line. I suppose the node you are
calling is running his or her server with them at startup:

    -nd
stands for No Dupes link mode. This mode is a further extension of the NR mode, so -nd option supercedes -nr option. In NR mode binkd will rename an inbound file1 to it's realname only after receiving an offset request for the next file, thus effectively making shure that the remote have deemed file1 to be successfully transmitted and will not attempt to do so again. Links status is stored in a outbound/*.stc file, so the session can be resumed even after reboot. This option will work only for outbound connections and only if the remote supports it (0.9.3).

    -md
this option forces binkd to use CRAM-MD5 authentication on outbound session. If the remote doesn't support CRAM-MD5, session will be aborted without falling back to plain text authentication. (0.9.4) [Warning!] Enable this option only if you are absolutely sure that your link supports CRAM-MD5 at
    all times.

There is documentation for Binkd available at http://www.doe.carleton.ca/~nsoveiko/fido/binkd/man/

You can probably get more help in the Binkd echo.

    Take care,
    janis
