• Limit call attempts

From Russell Tiedt@5:7105/1 to All on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 05:53:47
    Hi,

Is there a way to have BinkleyTerm, only make 5 attempts to call a node at say 10 minute intervals?

Use PollTries and CallTries to configure that in BINKLEY.CFG. I don't think you can do that "per-node", but per-task.

THe interval part is easy, set an a value, number of
    seconds.
    Quoting from the docs:

A= Controls the idle time between outgoing call attempts.
The format is "A=x" where x is the number of seconds
desired, which can be a number between 0 and 1800 (1800
    seconds = 30 minutes).
The average wait between calls is based on +/- 50% of the
number specified, i.e., A=60 would yield a wait time in
the range of 30 to 90 seconds, 60 being the average.
Should the A= parameter not be used, the default value is
120, for an average wait time of between 60 and 180
    seconds.
This flag does NOT operate when a forced (Alt-M) poll is
made. In that case repeated calls are made until a
    connection is established.
You'll also want to set the t parameter. SEe page 78 of
    bt-ref.txt for more.

rEmember after modifying your binkley.evt to delete
binkley.scd and binkley.day then restart bt to put changes
    in effect.

    Regards,
    Richard

Thanks, hopefully this works on BTXE on Linux ...

Not deleting "binkley.scd" has bitten me a time or two ... :-(

I would think it would. Know it will on the dos or other
    flavors.

    yEp, me too.

Please tell us how it works out for your flavor of bt if you would.

Will do, as soon as I get new memory for that box, the stick that was in there, is unreliable ...
