I was able to find the power adapter for my external USR Courier modem...so happy...works perfectly with Binkley. :)

I don't think there is such a thing as "best" init string, have gotten by just fine fo many years with AT&F1| with BinkleyTerm, tho I do see that my current string is AT&F1H0M0| , cannot remember why I made the change ... :-(((

I was lucky and got this Courier as it was being thrown out...with the full set
of manuals, heh. The one that I've used for years is just AT&F1 (not AT&F) with no preinit. I also have the FAX string setup, but I no longer use the fax
as my printer (an Epson Artisan 800) has a fax maching built in.

Looks like you wanted the speaker off (M0) and when the modem hung up that it was on the hook (H0). I'm probably wrong about these as I can't find my Courier docs, but sounds like it...but yeah, I've used AT&F1 for years too!

I have both a Courier and a high speed Sportster but neither one have been in use for years. However, I still have my Binkley configuration and the modem init for the Courier with fax looks like this:

That reminds of mgetty (?) or some other process that reset the modem, ( running two different systems of of the same serial port ) ... , wonder if I went back to AT&F1 would cause me problems - must remember, when I have time to play again ... , to check, motherboard now has 2 serial ports ... , Linux makes this so easy ... , most times ... :-)

As far as docs go, from a terminal screen, you can type

for the Command Quick Reference list.. on a Courier .. #$ is help with the # commands &$ help with percent commands... very handy list <grin>..

Years ago, Adam Strack told me a few things about the couriers he gave to use for the filegate project: Don't use &W (write to RAM) too many times, the # times you can write them -is- limited, but no one knows the number exactly <g>... and it's better not to set your modem up to factory defaults every time you init (AT&F) the modem as well. Use ATZ.. that resets to ATI4 which is what you want. This is a partial list of my ATI4 Screen.. I can either list the whole thing if you want me to, or send it to you.. didn't want to congest your echo too much <g>:

courier-i here, my plan was to hook this up with my a4000, but telecom wanted us to have "better" adsl :/

i now have plenty of modems to no avail, but fun might happend when i get my a4000 tower up, does anyone know if isdn can work over ip ?

ISDN is a technology, IP is a routing protocol.
