Now I may be all wet on this because I never could get it to work in SIO before, but it looks like Ray listened carefully to me when I commented that it
wouldn't do NAME style dialing with VMODEM!
I'd upgraded to SIO2K anyway. Out of frustration, I absently stuck in the alphabetical name of the Internet BBS I wanted in my NodeList for test purposes. It took a little fussing around to get rid of the 011- append for corruption, but ... LO!
Poof! VMODEM with TELNET will now handle ALPHA dialing
instructions and you can dial direct with it to DNS2GO and
other TEXT based shims for people with DHCP translation!
Opens up a whole new interface in Fido with OS/2 and VMODEM to these sites!
At least here!
