• Netmail editor?

From Sean Dennis@1:11/200 to All on Monday, November 25, 2002 21:15:48
    Hello, All!

Does anyone know of a small, standalone netmail editor for DOS or OS/2? I just
hate to fire up my full-fledged mailer just to write a netmail...

    Later,
    Sean

    Hi Dennis,

Before I switched from OS2 to Linux, I used Timedp. Also, Msged and Golded come
in OS2 ports. You should have it, if you got all the files from Gary.

    Sean ..

Does anyone know of a small, standalone netmail editor
for DOS or OS/2? I just hate to fire up my full-
fledged mailer just to write a netmail...

For my own use since I'm a WordStar fanatic and still use it totally for all editing unless FORCED to use all the SMARTSUITE stuff for OS/2, I use that one.
BTW, an OS/2 version of it that is free but lacks priter support and is a port
of it that was never finished, is available!

Since using those W/S control strokes is about 25% faster than a mouse, if your
hands are well trained, you can use the Semi-Pro what became of or is QEDIT as well. It comes in both a DOS and native OS/2 version as well. Has a complete W/S keyboard template right for it as desired.

Both of which have user exit possiblities that may not be appropriate for general user interface on your BBS. But for your own use, QEDIT may be fine for you and get you a simple VERY nice text editor as well..

Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)

Not sure what you mean by a full-fledged mailer, but Msged has been around forever, is reasonably current, and can handle netmail and echomail in a variety of formats.

What does the mailer have to do with editing a message? I use the mailer for transferring stuff back and forth, and handing off to the bbs on those few occasions when that's necessary, and a message editor for editing messages...

I would use VDE, a WordStar-style DOS editor, for text, and post it either with Sendmsg (or maybe MPOST) or, as a PKT instead of a Squish/*.MSG

I'll probably write a little line editor for myself and use SendMsg. I dunno; I have a specific need to why I'm doing it. <G> I'm weird like that.
