And It got me thinking. What ever happened to The Old school bbs nets. like Fidonet, wwiv-net, C-net, and so on... Did any of them survive the big bbs crash of 96/97 ?

    I ran a BBS from 1992-95 on WWIV 4.23 On a Ibm pc/xt with a 20meg harddrive at 2400baud.
I loved it. The only reason I didn't run it on a commodore was I didn't want to tie it up! The old XT I got from another Sysop who had upgraded to a 386sx16 for $75.00 It was ready to go including the bbs software. What A deal! I had wwiv-net, and fidonet subs, but lost track of all of it in
1998 when I got a modern computer (5x86 133mhz) And hopped on the Web bandwagon.

    Any other Sysop's Out there?

Well, FidoNet is still alive and well. WWIVnet is also alive and well, so is GateNet, ACnet. I am GateNet @1 and ACnet @1.

There are loads of nets out there and BBSs that have been around a long time. My BBS for instance has been online since 1980. First started on a Commodore PET 4016 with 2 Commodore 8050 duel drives and 2 Commodore SFD-1001 drives and a 300bps modem. telnet://thegatebbs.sytes.net (port 666) and telnet://thegateb.synchro.net (port 23)
