The scheduled visit for Oct 26, at 8am, never happened. The overhead phone wire is still hanging dangerously low over the public roadway. Considering that my call was taken by an agent in the Philippines, maybe they are sending a tech person from the Philippines. :(

The more things change the more they stay the same.

Crazy huh? No matter where they get the call you would think they would do something about low hanging wires before they get broken or at least inspect the wires and determine what is needed.

I was working out of town years ago (I wasn't driving) and after making a delivery we headed back out out of town and our truck (9 feet high) picked up a wire and it all unraveled from the poles.

The driver made a hasty exit without stopping. ;)

    I don't blame him.

I had a job as a helper drilling holes for foundation piers for buildings primarily. Well, have you ever noticed the signs that say "call before digging" or something similar? There is a good reason for that. Utility companies are supposed to come out and mark their buried wires and pipes.

So we are called out to a construction site to drill the pier holes for a new shopping center. It's within sight of a hospital. The utility companies flags are there showing the lines, the construction company has marked where we need to drill. 3rd hole, up comes the telephone lines that the phone company missed, which happened to service the hospital....

Still no show this morning. I ought to take a picture for documentation. There is actually one other tree that is "holding up" the wire that reduces the slack. It would be much worse if the tree wasn't there.

In my case, the lowest is wire (cable) is just the phone cable. I should probably lassoo the darn thing and pull it down more on the side of the tree away from the roadway and secure it with a tie.

Not a bad idea at all. Always document.

Even phone lines carry an electrical current. I wouldn't mess with it unless you're certain of ability.

DC ought not to kill me. I'm going to try to drag the wire across the tree branches with a gripper (used to pick up things from the floor). If y'all don't hear from me tomorrow you will know what happened. LOL
