    World Economic Forum introduces "SMART face mask" - it can synch with your CELL PHONE, measures your breathing rate and lets you know if worn improperly!

    Heralded as "the mask of the future" and designed by Chinese-owned health data firm CirQ Technologies, the big reveal on Wednesday received a rather negative reception online.

    As the public is looking to get back to normal and kiss face masks and social distancing goodbye, many Twitter users pointed out that "the mask of the future" signifies that the World Economic Forum wants to keep people wearing them indefinitely.

    Others said the smart-phone hook-up feature could pass on your data to governments, possibly even linking wearers to a China-style "social credit score."

    I saw a similar news item on the 1st of April...

    It's hard to believe anything we see and hear at any time of the
    year. For instance, my province has once again gone into a
    "lockdown" with stay-at-home orders. ..but everything still
    seems to be operating as usual: people are still showing up for
    work. Officially the orders are "stay at home, except for
    essentials: food, medicine, fuel" However, the provincial radio
    station is still operating (no one stayed home for that), the
    post office, grocery stores, pharmacies, bakeries, etc are all
    still operating - no one is staying home. My self too.. I can't
    NOT be at my shop - I have to receive shipments, process
    payments, etc.

    Back to the mask story.. thoe whole concept of a smart-mask is
    worthy of a joke. Maybe it was an April Fools joke that went
    around but arrived at RT (with the full animated video!) a
    little later.
