So.. whatcha y'all thinking about the advance call for another federal election?

I voted in the advance polls yesterday. I noticed a couple of things quite different.

[1] the ballot actually mentioned the party for each candidate. I always wondered why they never had that in the past. As a result, I think I ended up voting for the wrong candidate the very first time I was old enough to vote.

[2] covid theatre was in full force. Free masks were available. Hand sanitation was required. They even required that I "sign" (including my telephone number)
a registry. I actually had to pause as I realized that I forgot my own phone number for a moment. :D The problem with the registry is that it failed to provide a record WHEN my visit occurred. I mean.. there was no date or TIME column. But the venue was empty. Gee.. I hope that I don't get a call to tell me that my health may have been compromised. LOL The "workers" were all at their stations, and I was the only active voter in the facility during my 3 minute visit.

    Ciao!

Boy are the numbers ever close. It's been like that through the whole election.

    You mean the pre-polls? Ipsos(tm)?

Those numbers aren't always accurate. What they might do is
influence people to sway their votes. When a certain report
says Candidate A is leading, then people might be convinced to
either continue to vote that way, or vote to try and change
things and vote for Candidate B, C or D.

I don't participate when survey-people call. Why do people
even bother? What an intrusive activity.

I like peeking at this one from time-to-time, they compile several of the polls into one easy-to-read chart:

    https://newsinteractives.cbc.ca/elections/poll-tracker/canada/

At time of writing this message it seems we're just as divided as our neighbours to the south were during their most recent election:

    Liberal: 31.7%
    Conservative: 31.2%
    New Democrat: 20.1%
    Bloc Quebecois: 6.4%
    People's Party: 6.2%
    Green: 3.3%
    Other: 1.1%

The numbers haven't changed much since then, although it's been
    only a day.

Meanwhile the political ads on OTA TV are quite repetitive but
not as annoying as the incessant OLG commercials!

Maybe you can post a daily result (via script) from that page
    until election night?

Well tomorrow's the big day! I hope it's not disappointing results. :-(

Results (or rather conclusive predictive results) ought to be available later that same night. Only about 1 million votes are by mail which will only be fully counted 2 days later, but those won't be too relevant to be sway votes.

We ended up with another Liberal minority government anyways. What a waste of a $610 million election.
