A chip to be on the money

    FEBRUARY 07, 2006
HITACHI engineers have developed what they claim to be the world's
tiniest integrated circuit on a chip.

    The 0.15mm by 0.15mm square is a gossamer-like 0.0075mm thick.

The company said the chip could be placed in valuable documents such
as currency and securities certificates to prevent counterfeiting.
