• Global Climate Change Myth

From BOB KLAHN@1:123/140 to ALL on Sunday, January 01, 2012 20:21:36

Had a headlight go out last night. Early this after noon I went
out to the driveway to work on it. Jan 1, 2012, Toledo Ohio
Area. Working on a car in the driveway in a short sleeve shirt.

    Isn't Global Warming a myth?

    Not hardly.
    Simple physics.

Infra-red passes one way through the atmosphere just like the glass
    in a greenhouse.

The frightening thing is it's noticeable in the span of a single
    generation.

Then there's all the trapped methane currently out gassing from
    the existing greenhouse effect.

Global Climate Change is caused by Global Warming.

So, the names can be interchanged for these purposes. Unless you
want to jerk around the right wingers, then Global Warming is
    the better choice.

    Isn't Global Warming a myth?

It's what you would call anecdotal evidence. Hmm, remember when Al Gore was giving a talk on global warming in New York and it was one of the coldest days of that winter... if I remember right it set a record for that date. More evidence that global warming is a myth? :)

To some people it is, obviously. To the scientists the evidence is crystal clear.

It's evidence all right -- evidence that some people don't know the difference between weather and climate. One record cold day in NYC doesn't effect the polar ice caps the slightest.

True. And it was 40F in Toledo that day. Which is about 4.5C.

Most of the right wingers in Fido seem to be in the South, to
whom 4.5C would be artic temperature.

    So it was a funny.

The point being, in either case it was and is anecdotal evidence and cannot be
referred to as proof of global climate change or global warming whichever you prefer to call it. :)

Mea Culpa! I totally missed the irony in your posting. Sorry about that -- sloppy reading from me.

Actually, it was a chain yank for the right wingers. It was 40
Deg F here, and that ain't really warm. The point is, so many of
the right wingers are southerners that 40 is artic to them. For
us native northerners, in January 40F is warm enough to go out
in a short sleeve shirt for a bit. I was out there last week in
freezing weather, for a short time, in a short sleeve shirt.

As I asked them, how long does it take you to change a headlight
bulb. Note that access was relatively easy.
