• TEOS under DOSEMU

From Steve Helferich@1:311/2 to All on Wednesday, January 18, 2017 19:37:06
    Hey all,

Does anyone have Planets: TEOS working under DOSEMU?

I've got it running but shortly thereafter it crashes with either runtime
    error 5 or 103.

    5 is file access denied
    103 is file not open

Doesn't seem to matter if I'm playing it locally or on the BBS.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Are you running "Share" in the emu before the game? Might also need to
    increase the "files" environment setting.

Just what I can think of right off the top of my head, but I don't run an
emu. Just sounds familiar from when I was running a DOS box.

    Hi Dallas,

We figured it out, DOSEMU only had read access to the games .dat files so
when it tried to make changes it would crash.

    Thanks

Glad you were able to get it figured out.

chmod 777 to the whole teos directory. Weird because I just copied all my
dos games over from my windows system and TEOS is the only one that was
having issues. I'm still learning linux, so I'm still figuring it out but
like my BRE files, and all the other games have the following permissions and work just fine:

Weird, it seems that the permissions for all the files that DOSEMU has touched have changed:

How are you starting mis? Are you running it as root or are you using sudo
to start it? From what I can tell, the (changed) permissions should not adversely affect anything.
