Are you running "Share" in the emu before the game? Might also need to increase the "files" environment setting.
Just what I can think of right off the top of my head, but I don't run an emu. Just sounds familiar from when I was running a DOS box.
We figured it out, DOSEMU only had read access to the games .dat files so when it tried to make changes it would crash.

so what did you do to fix it? DOSEMU should have had full access to the files...

How are you starting mis? Are you running it as root or are you using sudo to start it? From what I can tell, the (changed) permissions
should not adversely affect anything.
