Maybe Shures are $100 but I bet Sennheiser MD-421 and MD-441 are more than that.

I bet. Too bad we don't have some online service that could tell us the going price for things with a few mouse clicks and key taps. Oh well, one can dream...

In order to find that site, you'd need *another* service to index all of the other services. Maybe in our children's lifetimes...

I know you are being sarcastic, but there is an Open Source search engine which will crawl the web for you, index it, and provide a web frontend for you to search stuff.

Minimum recommended storage for making it work is around 7 petabytes.

    Gigablast.com is based on it.

Have you looked around at some broadcast supply warehouses? You may be able
to find some decent deals on some good mics there. One mic that surprised
me was the Behringer (sp?) for under $100.00. Looks a bit like a Senheiser
and I'd easily say challenges my EV RE20 and much less the cost.

As usual you get what you pay for. But a decent Large Diaphram Condenser will cost you around $300

Either would work, but make sure you're using a good microphone. A Blue Yeti or the AT2020USB+: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016YL4POK

You'll have more editing software options on the PC, but if you're not going to do a lot of post production, an iPad should be fine.

I mean.... if you connect a decent microphone you could record with an iPad, iPhone or any other device... but I don't think the stock iPad or iPhone mic is good enough... the iMac is a TAD better - but I think any podcaster should at LEAST grab a $100 Blue Pro.

Theres a myriad of other options, too - USB or direct... from $100 - $500 and beyond.

But you can get a lot at $150-200. IMO, start w/ a $99 Blue and see if its enough...

Yeah, I use a mixer between my audio inputs and the computer I record on. Basically I use my laptop with the earphone jacket connect to one of the
inputs on my mixer and the record/output jackets going to the line in/microphone jack on the laptop and it works just fine. Have two mics, my PC audio and one smartkphone going into the mixer, so it mixes things up very nicely when I need it.

I really need to set up my podcasting gear and get back into it again.

... Platinum Xpress & Wildcat!..... Nice!!!!
