Pretty sure I found a way to game LORD. Not sure if its a bug or not. I think I could probably be number 1 forever now but theres only like 3 players. Why don't people play this anymore?
what are you doing? it's probably been done before.
tell your sysop to install mzklord so there's fake players.
i found a way to get virtually infinite forest fights. its not without risk but it allows for xp grinding and making lots of bank.
Care to share? This has piqued my curiosity :)

i am my sysop so i'll have to look into mzklord. is mzklord innerbbs?

i think i actually found the culprit in grabbag.js:
if(user.is_sysop || dk.system.mode === 'local') {
// allows for sysop to always
// be able to play for testing IGM
// player.sex = 'M';
// remove this, it is only for testing M/F
player.forest_fights = player.forest_fights + 1;
player.hp = player.hp_max + 1;
b.can_play[player.Record] = true;
}
i am the sysop on my instance so this does feel like cheating :(.

I blame people not having local BBS's to log in to and we don't
'know our neighbors' anymore...

People still play multiplayer games online all the time (they're just different forms than BBS door games). I doubt physical distance has to
do with it. I think it's just that there are far fewer people using
BBSes these days than there used to be.
BBSes these days than there used to be.
Yeah - I was specifically referring to why LORD is not full of players
like in the old days... Cause the BBS is not full of users. :-)
That and every BBS has exactly the same games on their boards. No matter where you go, Bran the Warrior WILL get ya!

I don't really see the issue with some door games being common on many BBSes.
I think that could actually be a good thing - That means if a user runs out of turns in the game or runs out of time on one BBS, it doesn't mean they have to wait until the next day to play it again. The user could go play the game on another BBS that has that game installed.
you can do a lot with lord.
I think the thing that's missing at present is what a good LORD setup with only good IGMs looks like. It reminds me of that scene in Borat where he's at the supermarket with all the different kinds of cheese...that's the world of LORD IGMs. So many of them are shit, and so many of them break core game mechanics. I'd love to find an installation of LORD that expands on the core game mechanics in the most fun and fair ways to keep the game interesting without going too far. Yet I haven't really seen that :/ But if something like that existed in, say, a doorgame server, with maybe the mzk addon, it would be an awesome game that people would likely play very competitively in.

also before this big loss of users sysops thought it was a great idea
to install hundreds of doorgames. that's absolutely not how you help
user interaction. seth himself said how to get user interaction in the docs.
sysops thought making things complicated was a good idea.
