    Hi there -
I have a question. I currently use FD 2.12 and I was wondering how
to get areafix to respond to my requests. Plus, I was reading about compatibility of stone age and type 2+. Is there a way to configure FD to use either stone age or type 2+? Please do reply..

areafix is tosser... the mailer doesn't have anything to do with it... the main
thing is that your tosser runs its areafix processing option and that your tosser knows where your mailer's netmail area is as well as where the mailer is
placing inbound mail bundles and PKTs...

not that i know of... so-called "stone age" is the original Type 2 PKT format... there's also Type 2+ and Type 2.2...

the packed messages that all PKTs carry are described in FTS-0001 in section C sub-section 1...
The Type 2 PKT header is described in FTS-0001 in section F sub-section 1... The Type 2+ PKT is described in FSC-0039 and refined in FSC-0048...
The Type 2.2 PKT is described in FSC-0045...

all of these documents should be available on the FTSC web site...

Areafix requests are handled by your mail and file processors. Is this
an issue you are having on your system or on another system? Also,
stone age and type-2+ I believe are generated by your mail processor and
not FD itself. For both of these issues, I would recommend reading the manuals that come with your mail and file processors or even post in the appropriate Fidonet echo for each.
