You can still get one from Tobias, email him at tobi@softeq.de. It might take him awhile to send it, but he will. The web site is http://www.softeq.de/Products/FastEcho/fastecho.html.

Tobias Burkhardt owns the software. He has a company Software Technik Burkhardt.
He lives in Germany and AFAIK he's still around. Try Google.

Used to cost about US$30. I used an international money order (from a bank, USPS
international money orders aren't accepted in Germany) but he may still accept credit
    cards.

If that's for real, I can give him a key. It'll be faster than asking
    Tobias for one.

I got one from him for free, it took a few weeks to get an answer, but he makes personalized for your bbs. I still have not used fastecho. I had already gotten gecho set up by the time I got the key from him. I still might switch to fastecho, it does look better than gecho.

I've used FE for years, switched to a couple of different tossers, then

I used FE for years when I was a point. When I took over a Fidonet
node from Bob Sakowski (he retired) I switched to Watergate, which is
what he was using. I've been using Watergate since about 2001 now.

Can Watergate be used to gate email? If so, where can I find it and can it still be registered?
    Thanks,

Yes. Also newsgroups. I have OS/2 copies, Sean Dennis has an 8MB
or thereabouts zip file that has everything you need for Watergate -
Windows and DOS versions both. There are 9 patches that have to be
applied - in order - to the executables, but they're included in his package The program that applies the patches will patch both versions at the same
time if they're on the machine. Sean sent his package to me and I
extracted what I needed and deleted the rest, sorry.

Watergate was released to the public in 2001 and the public key is
included in the package. No registration necessary.
