From Bill Gordon@1:3634/22 to All on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 14:40:56
Every time I try to run Fastecho -t, I got a file called 'check' in my inbox. What's that all about.

The Fastecho I'm using has been working fine for several weeks.

    Ideas?

    Thanks

There is no such thing as a -t command in FE. If you want FE to Toss mail,
you have to tell it to TOSS incoming, SCAN netmail, PACK outbound...

    If you want to know what commands FE will respond to type;

    fastecho ? (enter)

Brings up all of the commands that FE responds to.

The Fastecho I'm using has been working fine for several weeks.

I've used FE for over 15 years and have a lot of experience with it.

Sorry, I worded it wrong. I should have said Fastecho toss -b

And in doing that, I end up with a file called 'check' along with the untossed archives.

I solved the problem, thanks. Way deep inside the batch file it was telling the system to copy *.* to check. Why? I don't know. But it's fixed and I apologize for the stupid question.

    Thanks for your response.

Have you un-archived those untossed packets? FE won't do that for you.

Are those un-archived packets in your normal inbound or in a secure
    inbound?

I can't dupe your scenario on my system.

i'd bet it was to save those files to a directory named check so they could be inspected to find out why they didn't toss...

is this .BAT one you wrote or one someone gave you oto use as as example??

I believe it's one that a friend wrote to debug, but that's been a while. Musta used a very old backup.

mmmhummm... i was wrong actually... there's really 48 slots...

    12 for DOS archivers
    12 for OS/2 archivers
    12 for DOS unarchivers
    12 for OS/2 unarchivers

some systems, like mine (and i guess yours) do unarchive the mail bundles before the tosser gets to them but this is so we can perform other tasks on the
PKTs before they get tossed... in my case, it is so i can run PKTDATE on them to fix bad dates in the PKTs... i used to run GMD and NOBOGUS on them in the past...

Yeup. Before DB, IREX called an archive checker, then the unarchiver,
which opened up zipped files for pkt inspection. If all was kosher there,
IREX then called on FE to toss, scan and pack any outgoing passthru mail.

.. in my case, it is so i can run PKTDATE on them to fix bad dates in
the PKTs... i used to run GMD and NOBOGUS on them in the past...

I have a copy of NOBOGUS and have been thinking of setting it up again. I
also have a copy of FxxKNOBOGUS to test it with.
