    Hello All,

Not too long ago, I marked a bunch of (Squish database) messages to copy
into another folder... Instead of hitting the "C" key (for copy), I accidentally hit the "D" key (for delete). Not having a Squish UNDelete facility, I created a very rough configuration of timEd to recover my
deleted messages (GoldEd doesn't have such a useful feature [yet]). The
timEd undelete routine performed reasonably well enough and I was able to recover #_most_# of the deleted messages.....

Now, I have a problem with the messages being out of synchronized
chronological date order.... for example, I have a message dated 8 Jul 00 followed by a message dated 22 Feb 98, and then, further on a message dated
14 Apr 01, etc. I had thought about using a text editor to physically move
the messages into their correct chronological order (a very labor intensive task) when Peter Knapper (in the TUB echomail area) suggested that all I
would need to do is find a utility that would read, sort and rewrite the
Index file as specified by a users criteria (write date, received date,
    sender name, etc.).

I would appreciate if someone could tell me if such a utility exists
already, or if they could create such a utility.

    Thank you in advance....

    Cheers ... Gerald

    Hi Gerald,

    You were saying:
timEd undelete routine performed reasonably well enough and I was able to recover #_most_# of the deleted messages.....

Now, I have a problem with the messages being out of synchronized chronological date order....

I have done this several times myself, and the result is always the same: out of date order recovery.

I had thought about using a text editor to physically move
the messages into their correct chronological order (a
    very labor intensive task)

An almost impossible task for a text editor since the file is binary and intimately linked to the .sqb, .sql and .sqi files.

when Peter Knapper (in the TUB echomail area) suggested that all I
would need to do is find a utility that would read, sort and rewrite the Index file as specified by a users criteria (write date, received date, sender name, etc.).

If such exists it would be welcome here as well. I've never seen anything to do that though. SQREIDX.EXE is Squish's rebuild index utility, but I don't think it will change the date order.

    Best regards,
    Marc
