Anyone know of a good Mail tosser that can handle Win32 Long File
names? I've been using FastEcho this whole time and while it's great,
it doesn't handle LFNs at all, so if I have a LFN filename that I want
it to handle,I have to use the ~ notation. This is a MAJOR pain in the butt.
I tried FMail, but it keeps destroying my messages.ra and messages.ele files. So I don't think it's an option.

try using HPT.

Depends on what you're looking for. I use and recommend HPT but there
is also a NT version of Squish that will handle long filenames.
HPT (Huskey Power Tools) requires a compiler. I have no C compiler. Remember, I said Win32, Not Linux :< Besides, Husky won't export a messages.ra file, and I consider that a requirement.

I've dealt with Husky. I really didn't like it that much. Ugliest
setup I ever did see.
And no ability to export messages.ra that I can
recall. If it won't export to the messages.ra file, it is not an
option for me.
Hello Dan.As I just stated in another echo (Argus), FMail is driving me up the wall. It INSISTS on making the first echo area number 201. I want the echos starting at 20, not 201. But no matter what I try the exported file always puts echos at 201. Driving me batty and making me want to purge fmail from my system.

Actually, this hub ran on Windows 2000 Server prior to being moved to FreeBSD. One of the nice things about Husky software is that the setup
was virtually a drop in replacement. Instead of doing it all at once,
I first converted the setup to Husky (while on Win32). Didn't
actually anticipate on moving the hub to FreeBSD, that was unexpected,
but being that its portable, all I had to do was change the pathnames
and it was done!
Here is the site you need - http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1332
Notice there are Win32 executables. I recommend starting with the
stable or beta release. The Husky setup is .. different .. but the
best I have ever used. Then again, I am used to Unix and test based configuration files so I find it rather nice! It offers things I
cannot do with any other tosser out there.
As for your messages.ra, that is a problem. Someone could code
something to convert the config to the file rather easy. It just
hasn't been done. As far as I know, only fastecho and fmail have that capability. Gecho has a conversion utility but gecho and fastecho
don't do the LFN you want.
If fmail is still being worked on, might want to see if it's an issue
they can address?
HPT (Huskey Power Tools)
Highly Portable Tosser :)
There are win32 binaries at http://hpt-bin.boom.ru (or http://hpt-bin.narod.ru ?)

Well, if you aren't familier with textbased configuration, keep your fingers away from that.
I'm scure that i can add a node faster than you.
Can't RA not import a Areas.bbs file? If it can't it sux..
Speed doesn't matter that much to me (speed of setting up at least).
I understand the config (and I do understand text based config files,
it just seemed exceedingly cumbersome to me).

No, there is no way of importing an areas.bbs file, but guess what?
MOST BBS PACKAGES CANNOT DO THAT. IN FACT, I don't know of any that
can!

* Reply to message originally in area CARBON.COPYI'm running EleBBs and I don't recall seeing any way to import an areas.bbs. Leme go look again...

Ok, i like husky and mbse, because you only should add a link once.

I know that Synchronet and EleBBS can.

Thats part of the Husky project :> And as I stated, Husky
won't write a messages.ra for me.

What does a "messages.ra" file consist of? And has anyone
mentioned this in the husky echo?
The project already has other converter files for various programs; perhaps one could be created that as well...

I don't have the husky echo,
but if you want it I can post a copy of the message.ra pascal structures here
(or netmail them if you have a binkp server running).
I don't have the husky echo,
If you want it, it's FIDOSOFT.HUSKY & should be on the at least
some of the backbone distributions... (It's certainly on the WWB...)

no not that :)
do not read this page http://husky.sf.net/
tell me more about messages.ra :)
Thanks anyway, but HPT is a no go.
hpt flyes here :)
http://husky.sf.net/ or if you want to compile, take all from here
same codebase on all programs and multi os :)
Will it compile under DJGPP?
