From Andrew Alt@1:261/38 to Janis Kracht on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 15:46:20
    Hi Janis,

I got your email today, thanks for hatching rmw0704.zip :)

You asked me again about MD-ED1.zip; I get the feeling that my email to you dated
August 10, 1:23 A.M. got sent to your spam folder.

Could MD-ED1.zip go into the top level of MentalDimensions? It wouldn't really fit
into the Humor or NonHumor category.

    Crud, I bet you're right :(

Sounds good, thank you Andy :)

    Hi Andy!

It will be easier for me if we add another File echo rather than put the MD* file
in the top directory, I decided.. :)

Whatever works best for you. I'm not familiar with the process so I'll completely
defer to your judgment, Janis. :)

Let me know if this looks ok for the file echo areas:

    % FDN: MentalDimensions
    % Coordinator: Andy Alt
    % Co-Coordinator: Janis Kracht, 1:261/38
    % http://www.filegate.net/mentaldimensions/
    % PATH: DIRECT %----------------------------------------------------------------------
    % File Echo Description %----------------------------------------------------------------------
Area MDGEN 0 ! MD: General topics
Area HUMOR 0 ! MD: Humor
    Area NON-HUMOR 0 ! MD: Non-Humor
Area SUBMISSIONS 0 ! MD: Submissions

I left the area submissions in the above, but I'm not sure who you get that >material from?

Was from other people. I don't run that website anymore.

I also added MDGEN, a new area just below /mentaldimensions, this is just easier
for my system and linking the files to the bbs :)

Ok. That seems fine. I think I mentioned to you I don't do much writing anymore
    so
atm I don't plan to be adding anything else other than this PDF ebook.

Is SUBMISSIONS something you once collected from friends, or is it meant to be a
backchannel area say from other Fidonet members to you?

The articles/posts in submissions were submitted by various visitors (and my mom
    :) )to my website.

The book itself, MD-ED1.zip has 14 short stories, some humor and some non-humor,
if that helps at all. :)

Thank you to you for sending it over :) It's going out today actually :)

On the 14h, I sent out a new filegate.zxx (list of File echo Tags) so sysops would add the new area to their systems. So the file should get out to everyone
    now :)

    Take care,
    Janis

Oh! I saw it in a newfiles list, so that must not have been a FDN list. I think

    I'm starting to understand... ;)

I know it gets a little confusing :)

Once I get a new file in from an author, I can share it with everyone else in Fidonet using what we call 'tick technology'.. A tick processor copies the file that exists in a directory (along with it's description) and sends to other fidonet nodes who have expressed an interest in that particular file area.

    :)

    Take care,
    Janis

Thanks for the explanation, Janis. And I trust that if I ever have any specific

questions, you'd be more than happy to answer them, time permitting? ;)
