• New in Anti-Virus FDN :)

From Janis Kracht@1:261/38 to All on Thursday, April 03, 2008 20:23:00
    Hi Folks!

    Please note!

Ben Ritchey, Coordinator of the Anti-Virus FDN has let me know that he needs to
split the McAfee and F-prot Sig Defs into two separate file echos, where before
    they both went into AVDAT.

    So now we will have:

AVDEF ...........F-PROT Sig Defs updates AVDAT ...........Mcafee Sig Def updates

You should see this change take place soon ;)

    Take care,
    Janis

Can you make sure that I am connected to those as I have not gotten anything in from them in awhile now.

... I never make stupid mistakes. Only very, very clever ones.

    Hi Marty,

AVDEF ...........F-PROT Sig Defs updates AVDAT ...........Mcafee Sig Def >> updates

Can you make sure that I am connected to those as I have not gotten anything in from them in awhile now.

You know, they make programs for things like this <bg>... just thought I'd mention you don't have to feel so helpless :) :)

I know, I know.. my bbs software is a dog, and uses weird commands and all that
    .. but it's not that bad, I swear :)

I checked though, and you're now connected to all the AV* areas. Whether you wanted them all or not. Anything you didn't want, you can remove like this:

    In a netmail message

    To Areafix @ 1:261/38
    Subject: (your password)
    ===============\body-of-message\======
    file -^AVWIN$
    file -^AVUNX$
    file -^AVWINXP$

The ^ says "starts with..." and the $ says "ends with"... regular expressions..
not wildcards.. don't put anything else in the message like taglines, or headers or footers or comments like, "Hello Areafix!", because BBBS's areafix will read all of that literally as areafix regular expresion commands.

    Take care,
    Janis

I know. :) I just don't like how BBBS handles a normal areafix message that
I send. Most all areafix processors accepts something like this in the body.

Thats why I get a bunch of echos that I don't want sometimes each time I try to update my feed. I also run a door that allows users to request an echo instead of asking me to add one and it uses the above format.

    ... Kill or starve.
