    Hello Janis!
    I got hand of a latest version of clanav v0.97.3 and just think on hatch it outin lnx4apps, as a zip file but saw then that is got too big, 45G or 45MB, so
    I took 3-4 directroies out and then tried a new zip packing and got it to be 12.7MB then tried out with the best compress with rar, and hmm. not much better
    13.5MB
    The things i move out from it was examples, datas and docs.
    I took a compare with the version of v0.74 and this was on 2-3MB :)

    So I stopped with and no hatch with.

    Geez, that's insane.. talk about bloat :( :(

    Well, besides all this, you have to remember Gert, that Ben does already do all
    the Anti-Virus stuff on the FileGate :)

    You have a problem with sending Linux 'apps' out.

    Why, because all of the distros have their own package managers that take care of using the correct links to the commonly needed libraries that are used.
    and, worse many if not all are very old and have been superceded years ago, e.g., they are dated around 2004.


    When you send out one of these common apps they have a good chance of NOT working on any given distro unless you send out the source code.
    Therefore there is no point of distributing any common apps that are made available by the various distributions .

    Can you stick to the one's that are more unique and current releases?
    Also, if a file is later than a previously sent one (or if in doubt) please use
    the tic 'replace' function to remove old files with same name pre-tag, e.g., bac1341.zip 'replaces bac13*.zip' etc.

    Otherwise It just proves to be a waste of bandwidth and of a sysops time
    having to clean up each area every month or two.

    hmmm, other then this month (can't tell you the date) I haven't see any Anti-Virus stuff come out, from when I was point off your ftn
