• ARCMail attach...

From Bill McGarrity@1:266/404 to All on Monday, November 06, 2017 18:04:06
    Hiya Gang...

    Quick question if I may.

I have a NC who just started using MakeNL to send me weekly segments. As you know, MakeNL creates a *.MSG file attach. From what he tells me, Mystic doesn't handle *.MSG. Being I am familiar with SBBS and how it converts *.MSG to *.?UT for binkp, is there a toggle in Mystic that will do the same. The reason I ask is without the netmail I can't send him back a "receipt" which is important if he makes any errors.

    Thanks!!

Mystic doesn't do anything with .MSG files.

Are you saying you are using 3rd party software to generate a .MSG file that has an attachment? Typically you'd generate those files in the node's filebox and it will send when you next speak.

I can build in something to process .MSG files if its needed, but I
want to make sure I fully understand the problem.

Yes, NakeNL is a program that generates nodelist segments that get passed up the line to the ZC who generates the final nodelist.

    From the MakeNL docs....

"Messages created by MakeNL are compatible with SEAdog by System
Enhancement Associates. Except for CRASH and HOLD attribute flags, they
are compatible with Fido v11, and (I think) Fido v12 by Tom Jennings.
They are probably compatible with other mail servers, but I cannot
    guarantee it."

The way I use it with SBBS. The tosser has a flag that tells it you're using a FLO style mailer. So, any *.MSG that are created (even by 3rd party programs) are put into a Netmail folder (which is stated in the INI file) get converted and placed in an outbound folder for that zone. A .?lo extension file is created along with a .?ut. You may have a different way of doing it but that's the jist.

he needs a (3rd party) tool to pack that MSG and its attachment into
the BSO format... he needs to look for BSO tools that do this... old school tools that everyone seems to have forgotten about these days...

it is also not the first time that MSG support for a ""special""
netmail area has been asked for... that's really all that's needed in mystic... that plus the MSG processing code... it should be real easy since the message library code used has support for the popular message base formats ;)

What you speak of I am not familiar that's why I asked and the author responded about including it into Mystic. From what you say it should be quite easy... :)

That is what I am doing now. Makenl creates a *.MSG with my net segment attached. I don't have anything right now to handle *.MSG so I moved that segment to his filebox and it goes to his system but no message is sent.

If what you want is the .MSG to get sent, then shouldn't you have both
the segment and the .MSG created in the filebox so that all of it is
    sent?

I'm just not quite clear on why a function needs to be added into
Mystic for this, when filebox does the same thing?

Try what he is suggesting and see if it works. I not sure if my tosser will know what to do with it but let's see.
