Simply copy the folder, and install Linux binary?

    Or are there other steps?

    No.

    Yes.

This has come up more often and also recently. I think I'll write a FAQ about it.

Awesome, I patiently await. The new NNTP Server is on my Linux box - just waiting for me to get fmail migrated from Windows to that machine - and no more
Windows for me - except for product support.

You still need some kind of windows for the configuration program, that isn't converted to linux yet. I use a virtual XP on my linux machine for that. Maybe dosbox works too...

Oddly, NNTPs strips the leading space on " * Origin:" making FMail re-tear. Which is correct, just testing things in NNTPd before I swap out for my NNTP server.

In the meantime, while I await steps to spin up fmail-lnx, I have ported almost
all *.h files to pascal, so I can work on a Linux "Pretty CLI" app for FMail. (My pascal compiler makes native DOS binaries, and Linux RTL binaries that can look and function (even in SSH) like your existing fconfigw32.exe... plus, I also ported TTT (Techno Jock framework also to Linux and BSD)... so my app will
look visually like a clone of fconfigw32.

    Cheers!

    Wilfred,

Hope all is well... have you had a chance to document migrating to Linux FMail? I have finished my NNTPd (how I am interfacing right now), however, it's
on Linux and my FMail is on my Windows server w/ JAMNNTPd.

    I appreciate the assistance!

And URL to the binary too please ;-)... I keep following the links on SourceForge, which take me to a Windows binary (even from My Mac OSX box).

    Thanks again!

Perfect enough for me! I am just going to change FMAIL_REPLACE_DRIVE to /, and all the paths should work! My Linux layout was built first, and my Windows structure(s) mimic what my Linux layout was - so I could use dBridge in DOSEmu or dBridge in Windows XP 2 months ago when I decided to switch from GoldEd to NNTP (as I use it on my iPhone too).

You mention you have a 64bit binary for your system... I only run 64bit CentOS - do you have a URL for that one?

Also a TEAR question... if my NNTP server or (soon to develop) my NNTP client add the tear and origin, is there a flag for FMail to re-tear if I want it, or not to re-tear if I don't want it to?

I do not have all the "C devel" framework on these servers, as almost everything I run binary or I write it in my MPL language.

    O.

    I put them online here:

    http://vlzn.nl/fmail/files/FMail-lnx64-2.1.0.18-Beta20170815.zip

But they are optimized and dynamically linked for my system and processor. So it would be pure luck if they work on your system out of the box. If it doesn't
work, you can try to install the right library versions on your system, or wait
for me to produce some statically linked binaries...

    Btw: My system:

    openSUSE 42.1 x86_64
    kernel 4.7.5
    gcc 4.8
    glibc 2.19

Also a TEAR question... if my NNTP server or (soon to develop) my NNTP client add the tear and origin, is there a flag for FMail to re-tear

Yes. Search for "ReTear" in FMail.txt for the details.

    Hi! Wilfred,

Greetings. Long time... I hope this note finds you in good health.

I intend to upgrade the OS of the VirtualBox for my FMail/lnx node (~/1384), ooh... this one! Heh, heh. I normally RDP to it from any of the other LAN doovers, so it's a surprise.

Ahmm, I'm sort of at a crossroad: continue with a hodge-podge FMail/lnx configuration (plan A); or, start afresh with another package (plan B). I just wondered if you might have intentions of getting a workable FConfig/lnx /going/ in the next 12 months? If so, I'll stick with Fmail. Else, plan B (a PITA but I have it figured).

    What do you reckon?

    Cheers,
    Paul.

Summer will be coming to a close here soon. Hopefully we don't have as long a winter as we did last year. And I get it, with nothing new to test or play with, this hobby gets pretty boring, so I just do other things for a few months and check back in another time.
