• RC-11 is being replaced

Normally I wouldn't share Fido stuff in an Othernet, but if you currently reside in what is known as "region 11", IL, IN, KY, MI, OH, WI... this will shed some light as to the current situation if you are having troubles obtaining a node number in that area:

    Hi everyone,

I have not been able to communicate with RJ Clay for a now more-than-reasonable amount of time via various contact info that was
submitted my way, nor replies to my now more-than-reasonable amount of
emails. So unfortunately, RC-11 will now remain "vacant" for the time being. Netmails host-routed for Region 11 will stop here on Hold status. As RJ was also interim NC for Nets 120, 220 and 2320, those spots are also vacant now.

If you are in need of a Fidonet nodelisting in that area, please contact me directly via Netmail or email, nandre -at- net229 -dot- org

Most important thing is to keep the idea of geographical regions alive. This is
how fidonet always worked. No? There were no mandatory geographical regions in
the beginning? Anyway, it is in the POLICY and there is no way to change it ... 🤦

I get all warm-n-fuzzy when you write the word policy in all uppercase... as
if to assert your superior knowledge over that clueless redneck dumbass ZC1. I assume this is for me not taking your troll-bait in FSX_GEN some time ago.

Its really nice and pretty to have geographical regions to seperate nets into, but the vanity has long faded and the RC position is that of a traffic-cone. Its just there to direct people where to be listed. In a perfect world, that RC is supposed to send me segment updates for all the subsequent Nets. Run a somewhat reliable system and be courteous enough to let me know whats going on if theres a problem. That would be a technically-competent person in my eyes.

If a technically-competent person cannot be found to be RC, the region can
be merged with another. There is no gun to my head that I must keep ten different RC's in the zone 1 segment. The RC assignment or removal has no technical impact on a Sysop's node number. If other RC's agree then its done.

Yup, you nailed it on the head. If someone can't be found that knows what
they are doing, merge the zone.

Contrary to what people claim, Section 6.1 of the POLICY states:

The Zone Coordinator defines the geographic boundaries of the regions within the zone and sets the time for the Zone Mail Hour.

Is this you very humble, well-spoken, educated guess? I wonder what your intention was when you used uppercase in words like BINKD, NODELIST, NETmail,...

Anyway, using uppercase is just a habit from the MS-DOS days: https://www.net229.org/POLICY4.TXT

Btw, congratulations for fixing the missing REPLY kludge in the software that you use on FSXNet as a reaction to my "troll-bait" (but maybe you are talking about other delusions).

    So POLICY4 is obsolete? ;)

Its just there to direct people where to be listed.

Which is exactly the problem. If people decided by themselves which region, network they want to join, nobody would have to wait for a ZC to replace an RC.
We all know how power works in Fidonet. ZC nominates RCs, RCs elect ZC. If ZC does not like RC, he

For someone who whines about authoritarian regimes and "GoT-style fuckups"
you would be the first to make a feminine delusional scene if the nodelist is not published on time or if your Fido uplink cannot connect to my system.

I fixed Renegade long before your arrival to silence a Dutch keyboard-warrior Sheldon Cooper type who firmly believed I was incapable of fixing it.

    He gave me a two-worded compliment. I gave him a two-worded insult.
