What is the best version of Binkd to use? The latest version I can
find to download for Windows is Binkd 1.1a-27.
domain fidonet C:\TG\\echomail\\FIDONET 1
domain fsxnet C:\\TG\\echomail\\FSXNET 21
domain testnet C:\\TG\\echomail\\TESTNET 72
address 1:229/664@fidonet
address 21:3/110@fsxnet
address 72:1/2@testnet
node 21:3/100@fsxnet alterant.leenooks.net <password>
node 1:229/426@fidonet bbs.darkrealms.ca <password>
node 72:1/1@testnet 127.0.0.1 <password>
I read elsewhere that I should just set all zones to 1, but that's
when packets meant for my test-net between Mystic & Telegard got sent
out to my Fidonet hub.

The current version of binkd is 1.1a-111. You can get that from..

I get it and compile it from:

Yup, my fidohub hosts many nets, and all the domain statements end with the same number. The number represents the zone of the outbound, not the zone of the network - but if you have the outbounds different, that's probably OK...

I would change those lines to all end in 1 eg.
domain fidonet C:\\TG\\echomail\\outbound 1
domain fsxnet C:\\TG\\echomail\\outbound 1
domain testnet C:\\TG\\echomail\\outbound 1
You will end up with outbound.??? for your other zones, outbound.015
for fsxnet. You tosser will create them when needed.
The above is for a 4D tosser like Squish, FE, Husky, FMail etc.

But be careful as your mileage may vary here. I am using Binkd for
OS/2 and Squish for OS/2, and BinkleyTerm for DOS. For whatever
reason, they only work and play well together if Bind is set up as 5D (even though Squish is supposedly only 4D, and I know that BT is).

Thank you. I'm not sure how I didn't come across this site before.
I found myself trudging through some Russian language ftp sites before
to find the a27 version I ended up using. I had to scan it six was
from Sunday before I felt comfortable using it through.
Hi Everyone,
Thanks for your help before. I really appreciate it. I think I have almost everything working, with the exception of Fidonet where I can receive but not send.
I use FastEcho for my tosser, and Mystic for my mailer. I know it sounds weird, but it works great. Plus, Mystic is a lot easier to set up to run as a mailer.
othernet is reconized by binkd and will send the packets out, but not with fidonet.
domain fidonet C:\TG\\echomail\\out 1
address 1:229/664@fidonet
node 1:229/426@fidonet bbs.darkrealms <password>

That is actually going to be my backup option, since it's running on the same machine as Mystic I can run it as a point by just doing a file
toss. (e.g. Mystic = 21:3/110 & Telegard = 21:3/110.1 and just have
Mystic toss the messages to/from c:\tg\echomail\in|out\)
Do you have Fastecho toss the files into a place where Mystic's binkp can send them?
A couple of observations.
1) bbs.darkrealms - is that a resolvable address?
2) Is the file in your out directory named 00e501aa.?ut or 00e501aa.?lo
I do. I have FastEcho toss to the Mystic echomail\in and \out
directories, and of course have FE set to look in the Telegard \msgs directory for the actual messages.
A little Frankenstein-ian, but I found it a lot easier to setup, run, and monitor than binkd command line, especially with its cfg file. Ugh.
I may pick your brain about this if/when I finally give up on binkd.
Yeah, binkd may very well be one of the least intuitive programs I've
ever come across. But I feel like I'm so close! lol

I read you comment about that before and I just questioned it since
that was not my experience when I ran Max/Squish/BT on OS/2. Of course that was 20 odd years ago. Your squish seems to be working as a 5D
tosser?
Just out of curiosity can you post your domain ... lines that you are using with binkd?
Also your outbound directory structure for fidonet and fsxnet? In my Mystic setup fidonet in my default zone so I have outbound that looks
like this..
/mystic/echomail/out
/mystic/echomail/fsxnet.015
I had always though that outbound directories in a 5D setup would not
have the .???, .015 in the case of fsxnet. Do yours have them also.
The contents of c:\tg\echomail\out is currently:
00000007.pkt
0000000a.pkt
00e501aa.flo
So this looks good - what does
binkd -pP 1:229/426 <path to binkd.conf> do?
+ 20:35 [7356] pwd protected session (MD5)
Contents of C:\tg\echomail\out
2020-06-01 10:57 AM 423 00000007.pkt
2020-06-01 12:11 PM 344 0000000a.pkt
2020-06-01 07:56 PM 0 00e501aa.dlo
2020-06-01 12:11 PM 68 00e501aa.flo
binkd -pP 1:229/426 <path to binkd.conf> do?I ran it with and without a -v, it still seems to be ignore the packets.
Hi All,
What is the best version of Binkd to use? The latest version I can find to download for Windows is Binkd 1.1a-27.
I've noticed that Deon is running binkd/1.1a-109 on Linux and Nick on Fidonet is running binkd/1.1a-99/Win32. Where can I find these newer versions?
I'm setting up a Telegard board and seem to be having a lot of issues trying to get Binkd setup. I'm not sure if this version is just really buggy or maybe I'm just mis-understanding how it should be setup.
"tried to connect to 1:229/426@fsxnet but remote has no such AKA"
Even though it's listed as under the fidonet domain in my .cfg file:

node 1:229/426@fidonet bbs.darkrealms.ca <password>
node 72:1/1@testnet 127.0.0.1 <password>
