I carry DOVE-Net on my Mystic board.

Here's how I set it up:

LOL, so Mystic it hurts - passing around docs in a message thread shared from a Synchronet board. :D

Looks pretty comprehensive, though. Someone ought to toss that info on the Mystic wiki.

Are you asking to get a feed into your BBS?

I thought I saw somewhere that you can get a feed via FTN (dont know the details) - but I also feed a couple of BBS via FTN. Not sure if that would be easier than trying to set up QWK?

Anyway, if you would like an FTN feed, I can help you...

He didn't ask if you want a fidonet feed... he asked if you want an FTN
feed. That would use sbbsecho, like fidonet does, but would not require
    that you join fidonet itself.

I am able to post ANSI to my synchronet bbs very easily. I use a QWK mail reader, like SLMR or Multimail. I download a QWK from the bbs, fire up the
QWK reader, post a message with the ANSI in the body to the msg area I want
the ANSI to go to, and then upload the REP packet back to my synchronet BBS.

I do carry it on The Brisge as a test, though that system is more of a hub than a user oriented BBS. I only setup DOVE there as a learning exercise for setting up as a QWK node on Mystic. I normally do my QWK networking here on Freeway, which runs Synchronet. But you can reah The Bridge at bridge.vkradio.com. :)

What's your reason for wanting DOVEnet on Mystic?

video-chatting software has something that works for document sharing, one
way or another. E.g., sharing desktop if needed, and sending files through chat.

So I'm sure it'll work. I mostly just mentioned MRC because it's a BBS solution, and it seems most appropriate, even if it's not the actual best solution. I mean, with a few exceptions, we're all a bunch of sysops, using BBSs for no apparent reason.

I mean, I'm 80 ANSIs into a calendar app, and I have no idea why I've put

It's totally ok and kinda realistic. I was pissed at the internet for
slowing traffic down as much as it did on BBSs; at the time I felt
there was room for both. Plus didn't like the 3-5 files necessary to

So I'm sure it'll work. I mostly just mentioned MRC because it's a BBS solution, and it seems most appropriate, even if it's not the actual best solution. I mean, with a few exceptions, we're all a bunch of sysops, using BBSs for no apparent reason.

I usually use TeamView when helping sysops or being helped by one,
along with Zoom or simply the phone to talk through it. Sometimes
modern tech is the best way to get older tech to work again. It'll be
nice when we have some of those tools (especially displaying .jpg
images) accessible on BBS's. While I don't want to see cat or Trump
memes, it would be nice to post snips when trouble shooting issues.

connect to the internet at the time, lol! Something like winsock, and
    I don't remember the rest.

Ugh. I remember the bad old days on that -- when you had to make sure you set up various IP addresses correctly when getting connected to any network.

And then I remember running into an issue when I attempted to use those files in Win95, and causing myself no end to pain in debugging.

Yeah, glad things have moved on, on that front. Much like how much nicer it
is to have FTN stuff built into BBS software.

to. Ryan and I were able to work through the issue thank god, my
message and file groups/areas finally show again! Big credits to him.

    Yay!

It's remote access through microsoft (I think) ..I like it better then zoom for sharing desktops and working through issues.

Oh. Maybe I _have_ used Team View, I just didn't care.

Indeed. The avoiding of memes of that type is probably one of the best things about using old technology.

But, agreed, sometimes additional bits would be nice.

Yeah, I sold PC's back then, which also meant playing tech support and installer / service for clients. While I understood it, it was kinda
like the craze of Encyclopedia Britannica on CD-Rom. While cool, I
just had little use for it at the time. Now of course .. looking back
.. I'd have invested in Yahoo, Amazon, Apple, etc.. back in the day.
Did you know if Apple had never split shares, they'd be worth $28,000
per share right now? Incredible how much I missed. But I'm content
with the way my life ended up.

Yeah .. everyone has a hardship story right now; and that one moment
they're trying to share that is positive, with people they type to
everyday without ever seeing them. Sometimes it would be nice to post
my gardens progress on the fido gardening site. But this format
definitely has allowed me an opportunity to build on my written word.

Also, say, Google, where if you had a couple hundred bucks, you could've reasonably joined in the IPO.

But figure this is back when AOL was seen as a highly-valuable company (and back before people began to think that Time Warner acquired AOL and it was a terrible idea, instead of AOL converting their worthless stock into Time Warner, which was a brilliant idea.).

So don't take it too hard -- if people could predict decently, prices would already be different.

That said, if you had money, just sticking it in a fairly broad index fund
has wound up being a solid investment. No black-swan predicting skills needed.

Time to make an ANSI from a picture of one of your plants, and annoy 25% of
the people for whom the ANSI doesn't come through very well. :)

    But, indeed, and agreed.

Here's one for you.. I had a chance to buy stock in a dying company called Quantum Services, the shares were selling for about $2 and change a share, it was an Online Service. There was an underground group trying to take over the company and keep the online service going. I wanted to invest a few hundred bucks but my wife said no! So I didn't. The Online service closed down about
6 months later but was re-invented. That online service was Qlink, and it became AOL! Suffice to say if I would have bought $300 worth of shares and
sold them in 2005 not knowing the exact figures but a investor friend once
told me those shares after splitting numerous times would have been worth
close to a cool million! Woulda, coulda, shoulda! Jeez..
