I know this is an endless convo, but sitting here reading and writing on fsxNet from my phone using SBBS's web front end.... it's about as good as it gets for me, on mobile. Responsive, using native keyboard, etc. whomever wrote that piece, great job (eChicken?)

I've seen some of those web interface sites; super cool.

I am getting closer and closer to wanting to launch a companion website to 2o.. just noticed the BOOTSTRA.386 project and that could be a really cool frontend to use in doing so.

A user just asked if I offered the web link downloads, which I don't, and think would also be an option if I hosted a www page... BUT, I certainly wish we (Mystic ops) had a way to host FTNs on the web like that.

I noticed one of your BBSes that had FTNs on the web... very nice.

    Phhbbbtttt. :P

The ecweb interface is done by echicken, and yeah.. it is slick.

The default interface was done by runemaster and is pretty nice too. I can't decide between the two.. so I have both!

Maybe I can pick your brain about how to get STARTED hosting/serving up a www... I like your BBSes web pages; but I do want to use this also. If you notice ascii arena, you can modify the setup and... our websites don't have to look EXACTLY the same.

Apologies for the garbage reply. Was on my "other" BBS and the editor just flipped out and I hastly tried to abort, ended saving instead :(

Was GOING to say, yeah -- having syncrhonet's web front end handle
web-based echomail browsing is SUPER handy. I run SBBS as my personal
hub, so it makes it easy. Might deep link into this for my main BBS site.

Happy to lend any advice in terms of scaffolding web sites - including
the html/css Bootstrap themes. No way I'm an expert, but been doing
    front-end for a long time...

I tend to roll with React-based things these days, which is probably
overkill, but easy to add an Express server for heavy
    (server-side, database, etc.) lifting.

Guns to knife fights, I know. Totally impractical. Maybe I'll just stick
to HTML/CSS this time as well :)

Mystic hosts via HTML 1.0 which is the basic original standard. All my bcw142.zapto.org sites are hosted by it. Not sure if BOOTSTRA.386 will
run with it, but I suspect it's more a matter of the browser being used
to view it than the server.
It will work fine with fTelnet, you'll see I use it on the bcw142.zapto.org page to get to Mystic Pi BBS and AlphaTest BBS.
In config under Servers, Configure Servers the standard setup is:
Yes HTTP HTTP 80 Yes Yes
Hit enter on that line and you'll get something like:
    Active Yes
    ID HTTP
    Adapter Type IPV4+IPV6
    IPV4 Adapter 0.0.0.0
    IPV6 Adapter ::
    Port 80
    Max Allowed 20
Auto IP Ban 0 in 0 Secs
    Country Blocked No
    Send Blocked No
    Dupe IP Limit 0
    SSL Port 0
    Root Path /mystic/web
That is my setup at present, so no SSL, no Dupe Limit, No blocking and such.
I use a different path of /mystic/web/www rather than the default as that's
what I really started off with before Mystic did web, I used nweb a small
simple server much like what Mystic does.
Port is the most important to know as it's how it's seen (what address)
http://bcw142.zapto.org:80 is the above web site
http://bcw142.zapto.org:2380 is my AlphaTest page (so Port 2380)

Hmm, my cursor has disappeared! Oh, well ;)

Mystic hosts via HTML 1.0 which is the basic original standard. All my bcw142.zapto.org sites are hosted by it.

Thanks a ton for all this info. Problem is, for me, that I don't understand WEB stuff a lot... but your explanation made it easy to digest and I get it. :P Then I just put my www stuff in ~/mystic/web ...

I think I'll be able to whip some stuff up. Thanks a lot.

If that's ~/mystic/web/www that has *.html files it will work. There should also be a ~/mystic/web/cfg in that case. Some day g00r00 will add stuff so
we can do full i/o instead of just o ;) It's save and secure with just output and no imput, but it's not a full BBS web setup that way. Still it's a good
way to get names and addresses and terminal programs out there to connect with. It lets people download them and get started.

Very good - but it will run an fTelnet instance too...? Sounds perfect for my needs; sure I'd love to be about to host messages there, but don't need so. My BBS is super ANSI heavy; so a place to explain exactly how to make 2o looks right is all I'm going for. And, an fTelnet window for the newest of users... I'm gonna dig around and try to make something.

Thanks for all the posters that posted details.

It will... I had my webpage originally on Mystic in the web directory.. It worked great.. I eventually moved it to Appache and finally to my NAS, but it ran well with Mystic.. g00r00 says it is a basic web page server, it is but
it can do anything you want it to if you need to...

Thanks for the reply - also, I'm not opposed to running my own web server but... I'm just fairly amateur at ALL web hosting.

It amazes me everything that I can do with Raspberry Pi's. :P I think I'm gonna try to run a www - first using Mystic and I'll goto another server if needed. Fun fun fun till daddy takes the retro away. :P

Basically the case because he enabled python as well as MPL. Python being more of a web language than MPL it allows for extending the web server it has in python as MIRC did. So in truth the cfg isn't really needed, just the www
and python. I hadn't thought about it before, but MIRC shows a way python can become the input engine for Mystic's web server, bypassing any need for cfg
to enable input or other services.
