Just ran across this interesting video on youtube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5_YBp36mf_g) that details making using of the 'asemica' perl script to generate an encrypted string of text that appears as plain text. It also goes on to cover how one could use this in conjuction
with other encryption so the output still appears as plaintext, but
decryption requires either a password, or specific pgp key, or both..

The reasoning is that it would (most likely) circumvent the auto-flagging of data that is encrypted using something like PGP as it wouldn't contain
anything other than standard text. Albeit jumbled text.. like this:

It's more understandable than the vast majority of phone calls I receive from recruiters. I don't get too much spam like that these days though.

Maybe we were receiving encrypted messages all this time and did not know it? Who knows, we maybe could have saved the world if we'd just have paid
attention instead of deleting them all!

It would be really interesting to find out that we were receiving encrypted emails though. That almost sounds like the basis for a good book/movie if
done right. Though it is probably already done.

In all seriousness, I used to (and sometimes still do) receive the messages
in broken English from the prince or king or whoever. But then at the end of those messages or, sometimes, just in messages by themselves I did used to
get the totally nonsensical "sentences" in English that do look a lot like
the encryption example shown here. I always wondered why they were tacking that stuff onto what was otherwise "normal" spam.

The technique is apparently called "Word Salad" and it is an attempt to get
the Spam message to pass through (undetected) various anti-spam filters. Not sure how well this works today - but it doesn't stop the "Prince regents" agents from trying :-)
