• Christmas Day (New Zealand)

From Avon@21:1/101 to All on Sunday, December 25, 2022 13:00:01
A mostly fine day across the motu (country) with a max temp of 22c for Dunedin today. We've had the kids over along with their partners and grandchildren. I suck at swing-ball but hopefully soon will redeem myself with some BBQ cooking duties.

It's a tough one for me this year as my parents are unwell (as those of you who frequent these echos probably know already) and struggling with their respective health issues.. I wish I lived closer to them at times like this but have certainly spent a good number of weeks staying with them this last year to help at home etc..

In the coming year I expect more change to occur both at home and at work. At work we lost a number of people I had worked with for some 8-10 years. Some left of their own choice a few I think we're pushed, one died by her own hand :( Hell of year... Next year a new boss who starts in a month and more changes / restructures coming I think...

I'm old enough to know despite how unsettling things can get, this too sha;; pass... I just am left wondering what the next decade will look like for me and what work / enjoyments I will find in the paid work I either continue to do or move into... time will tell.

Well peeps.. I'd best go be social with the family again and fire up that BBQ.

Best wishes for your Christmas and New Year where ever you are. Stay safe and warm/cool and thanks for taking part in this little message network that keeps chugging along. I appreciate your involvement in it.

    Best, Paul

We had -15C (brr!) on Christmas Eve, but raising now for the upcoming week, so I think most of the snow here will melt away. Maybe some more wintery weather in February or so (that's usually the coldest and winteriest month here, whereas November and December are usually snow slush months, with January somewhere in between), then spring will arrive slowly in March-April...

like this but have certainly spent a good number of weeks staying with them this last year to help at home etc..

You've done a fantastic job in that department!

died by her own hand :( Hell of year... Next year a new boss who starts

Like you say, that'll probably pass, too... =) Hoping for as smooth a transition as possible!

Thanks, and back at you! And thanks for keeping fsxNet up and running (this applies to all the hubs and everyone else here, too, of course). =)

Wishing you all a continued Merry Christmas and -- very soon -- a Happy new Year!

    Best regards

Reporting from the complete other side of the globe and hemisphere, it was 3 degrees (F) (-16C) on Christmas Eve when we woke up. Indoor cooking is the only thing possible in this super cold/windy weather.

It was the coldest day of the year and likely the coldest day we have had here in many years.

Hope you and your family had a great Christmas. Our was very nice and everyone was worn out from all the action and was in bed by 7pm. :)

Holiday wishes to you and your family, albeit better late than never.

We had mild weather on the California coast for Christmas, the 24th was downright pleasant. We have a big storm coming this week, I can feel it
    in the air.

Next year, we've decided to visit my wife's family in Portsmouth, UK,
it's been over 10 years since we've done that. It'll be *cold* and damp,
    for sure.

This was the first year that nothing was given that required batteries.
    Very odd.

We've finally hit a few days of sun and higher temps here which has been nice, I hope that storm has not been too crazy for you guys.

Yep! There should be a song called 'I'm dreaming of a soggy Christmas' :)

This was the first year that nothing was given that required batteries. Very odd.

You know I am hard pressed to think of what we needed batteries for this year also... I can only think of a food temp probe that I got that needed 1 x AAA

It's dinner time as I write this reply, and I need to crack on and eat some more Christmas leftovers.

I'm living in a house full of vegetarians, I've been able to make the
    leftovers stretch out until now.

We were a little pressed for time and I was unavailable on Christmas eve
day (my son got tickets to an NFL football game as a present). My wife
and I picked up a complete dinner from Whole Foods - we ended up getting
a huge turkey breast, mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, brussels sprouts
and cranberry sauce, and all it took was 30 minutes in an oven to be
    ready for the table. Easy!
