I think I've never at all bothered to change any time zones on my BBS, as my BBS is on UTC.

I tend to figure it's a reasonable compromise, since it doesn't change regardless of time of year, and which time zone I happen to be in.

But I'm guessing most people stay in one time zone (whether physically, through calls to other people, or server locations) more than I do.

Also, _way_ easier to figure out if it's Meatup time on Fridays.

24/7 mailers. Fidonet instituted a Zone Mail hour that was the same

I know I've struggled with that occasionally, as I'm frequently looking at a system in California while I'm in Germany. Though there it's more an issue with, "and this happened at 5:51a. And... it's currently 7:30a. Okay." while looking out the window and seeing that it was dusk.

But I think it makes sense, there, that it's local time, as operations with the system are almost entirely local, aside from people like me.
