    Hi there,

im a fan of photography and i like Digital photography. But i also use good old analog film photography with my Yashica Electro 35. Maybe here are also some photographers are using films :)

Hi Gom - I too love photography and have a digital camera (a Nikon
D5600). I still have my first Canon analog camera which is an AT-1
and is fully manual, and my second Canon analog which is an A-1.
When I got the A1 in 1979, it was the top of the line for Canon. I
also had an AE-1, but sold that a number of years ago.

I don't use the analog units much as it's pretty expensive to get
    the film developed.

One thing I really like about the digital units is that you can take
as many pictures as you have space for and then only print the ones
you like. With analog, it was take 20 pictures and get them
developed and you may have some good ones but would also likely have
    some bad ones too.

I don't have an example of my work to show. Thanks for posting!

Agreed -- and if you don't have to pay anything for developing photos, you're more likely to take a few extra.

And better photographers went, "when it doubt, take another roll of pictures".

Now everyone can do that, and hopefully better photography is the result.

True, films and the developing is really expensive. Kodak Chrom Films (Expired) kosts round about 30? for one film.
But if you know, its expensive, you take much more time to take a picture. With digital cameras, you dont think about it.
Thats the difference. You take your time, and take a better image and the typical film look gives the picture the rare look i want.
You cant simulate this look, you always will see the difference.

It would be nice to see, how you see the world with your eyes.

I think the evidence says the opposite.

There was a study on something like this, where students were assigned to either take x number of photos every day, regardless of quality, and a different group of students were assigned to present exactly one, and that would determine their grade.

Or something along that line -- I'm just recalling this from memory, and am sure some bits are wrong.

From what I remember, _every single one_ of the students who did quantity over quality wound up _also_ having better quality.

And, while I've never owned an analog camera, my experience with it, and seeing pictures other people produced, is lots of terrible to mediocre shots. And a fair amount of thumbs or fingers.

People get better by taking more photos, and you get better photos from one situation by taking more photos and getting rid of most of them. Digital also gives you immediate feedback, so you know more of what you _shouldn't_ do when you take a bad picture.

typical film look gives the picture the rare look i want.
You cant simulate this look, you always will see the difference.

_That_ on the other hand, is _definitely_ a point in favor of analog cameras. Maybe eventually the simulation is near-perfect, but certainly the flavor and style are likely influenced by the camera and how one uses it.

Was never a big photo dude, but in my limited experience, getting the just spot on photo, was about 95% luck hoping for the uncontrollable random factors to align. I have one I fluked of my son maybe somewhere about a year old... He's got a big smile on his dial, crawling towards me across the lawn, he even thoughtfully hid a lot of the non-interesting parts of the backyard. Couldn't do that again if I tried.

Intersection of luck, skill, and opportunity, I suppose, much like most everything else.
