• Talisman v0.22 Out Now

From apam@21:1/182 to All on Saturday, June 05, 2021 09:46:08
Talisman v0.22 is out now with file hatching!

Infact I hatched it with postie to fsxnet! (Thanks Paul)

in addition to the fixes i mentioned earlier, there have been some more improvements / fixes...

    1. IPv6 support, Servo can now listen on IPv6 in addition to IPv4
    (requires enabling in talisman.ini)

    2. More postie fixes, postie now makes a pid file (kind of like a BSY
file), to stop multiple instances running at once.. if it detects a pid
file, it'll wait 10 seconds for it to free up, then bail.

    3. There was a bug if you received 2 bundles at once that needed
    forwarding, that is fixed.

    4. Did I mention file hatching? it works!

    Woooot!

Very cool. I'll be getting this installed tomorrow. I think it's
going to be a super humid day I'll want to hide in the apartment
    anyway.

Make sure you grab the 0.23 version! (I'm sure you will)

Been thinking today of what to add next. I was thinking of qwk
networking, or perhaps adding an event manager to servo.

I wanted to make a binkp server / client, but to do that i would need an
event manager and file/directory watcher in servo.

I should check the issues, there's probably something someone's asked for
    that I forgot about lol

    I will. :)

I would love an event manager. I'm using irex for my ezycom setup
to handle events in Talisman currently and as the goal is to run
only Talisman eventualy, an event manager would let me not keep
    irex installed. :)

Interesting. I suppose it would make it easier to support as right
now you need to know how to configure binkd as well.

Yeah, but you'd need to know how to configure the binkd replacement too.

I don't know. Perhaps it's not worth it.

Well you probably saw my last message... added a basic event manager
today, though now it supports two types of events, interval and watchfile.

The watchfile checks if a file has been created / deleted or modified,
and performs the event.. which means I have now got rid of my inotify
tool scripts to run postie when a mail semaphore is made.

I'm pretty happy with it.. the only thing it doesn't have is a certain
time event, so like if you want something to happen at midday, you cant
(but you can make it run once a day)

Sorry I ment you as someone who is supporting the BBS package.

I don't know. Perhaps it's not worth it.

The learning curve for binkd wasn't that difficult. There are a few
things I like about Irex a lot more, however binkd is stable and
    just keeps chugging along.

Excelent. One less thing running in a window over here. The inotify you
gave me works just perfectly, but built in is better.

I'm pretty happy with it.. the only thing it doesn't have is a certain time event, so like if you want something to happen at midday, you cant (but you can make it run once a day)

Seems like a great starting point! I can deal with a once a day event, I currently only have one of them, everything else is every hour or two mainly for polling HUBS.
