  • Avatar select for Talisman

    I've added a custome script to Alpha Complex that taps into one of the new feature additions in Talisman .30 -- the newuser.lua file.

    After a new user signs up, they are taken to a screen where they can
    select from one of 20+ user avatars and have it associated with their
    account.

    Not quite sure where/how to use the avatars just yet -- easy one would be
    a User Profile screen where I can tap into user attributes using lua as
    well...

    Could even turn the avatar selector into a more of an RPG-based character builder (face shape, colors, etc.).

    Anyway, not super complex but if you are curious how lua can help make
    Talisman customizable, stop by! I'll post this script and the art files
    in the talisman/lua downloads section as well.

    For sure! If you have an account, select [P] Profile from the main menu,
    it'll allow you to access the avatar selector! Thanks for checking it out

    I'm really impressed by your avatar workings, on a BBS software that doesn't offer it stock. TBH, *these* are the things that pump me up about BBSing in 2o21.... if you keep building, you'll end up with something really wild and worthwhile. Thanks for investing your time here. Make sure you're all backed up, and IMO - if you ever take the thing down; put an archive up at archive.org. :P

    Love what BBSes are doing in the TODAY.

    Thanks, Paulie! And good reminder on the BACKUP siutation, I have finally
    setup a seperate dev machine (I was crashing my BBS while people were
    trying to access it, lol).
