• Simple Mystic question; INVISIBLE

From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 17:40:54
Hey guys... I usually log into 2o invisibly, so that I don't add to my call #s or last callers list - but I want to be VISIBLE to other users. (sometimes)

Is there a way to login INVISIBLE and then toggle that mode off? Hmmmm - I'd even like to offer that option to some of my users. Alternatively, if theres no toggle - is there a way to login VISIBLE but not log the call in last callers/total call #s?

Sorry if this is a rehash; but its an issue for me today. Thanks.

Do you mean, visible on the local nodes query, for instance? I wasn't aware that was an issue. I thought this only affected the call lists/stats.

Ummmm... I allow certain users to login invisible on any call, like myself. All s50 users can login invisible after their first call of the day - but I usually ALWAYS login invisible so my calls don't litter the last callers list. However, none of my users can SEE me logged in when I do - so... I'd like to bypass the last callers listing, totall call #s to the bbs, BUT be visible to my users.

Okay, yeah, I get what you're saying. Unfortunately, I was under the
impression that this was already the case. I mean, when I check my own "who's online", I show up on it. But...that might only be because I'm the SysOp, and

I know I am thinking basic programming language here, but can't you do a check of access level as the first string in the prelogin menu in the FIRSTCMDS section and if access equals s255 drop to main? You can add in a question for s255 users (Which I assume is only you) do you want to go straight to main? If you answer yes, it will load the main menu and you are good to go, if you say no it will drop you through the entire login process.. This should also bypass all of the logging that is done via the prelogin menu.. I am probably way off on this but it might be worth a shot...

I don't think that's the issue paulie420 is dealing with. He already has a 'fast login' option in his BBS, but it currently takes place *after* the Invisible? prompt, and after the caller log is updated.

However, this begs the question of when, specifically, the caller log is updated...if its immediately after the Invisible? input, perhaps one could make an adjustment to that portion of the login procedure, so that one is not invisible, but bypassing the caller log anyway?

    Something to think about...

Yes in the Mystic configuration under Login/Matrix there's an option called "See Invisible ACS" which means, if a user has X security level or above, they can see anyone even if invisible.

Perhaps you could leverage that Paulie420?

So mL answered exactly what I was wanting to do... and I should have known this, and I use the GE command a lot to modify user settings... (I believe its GE.) Anyway, its a simple GE, Data: 16 command that got me running. I threw it in my global menu, with s100 access - and certain users can now use that as a feature if they login invisible and want to change that at some point.

Thanks mL - for the answer and the more detailed info you sent me privately.

Also, thanks Bucko, McDoob and others who helped me think thru this one. I felt a bit greenhorn on this question, but thats OK.
