Is anyone using Mystic's mailer to hub for a small network? I'm curious, been running Synchronet for many years and am considering a change.

Is anyone using Mystic's mailer to hub for a small network? I'm
curious, been running Synchronet for many years and am considering a change.

Mystic is a beautiful BBS. I like the message reading functions and the built in spell checker.

Mystic's mailer and tosser work well and will serve a network well as far as I know although I have not done that myself.

Mystic lacks (currently) the ability to request files from other nodes or to honour incoming requests so that it something you will miss if you move from Synchronet if you use that.

When I was using Mystic I found that it would import messages even from nodes that were not connected to an area. That was some time ago and I don't know if that is still the case or if that is of concern.

One thing I like about BBBS is that it does everything needed it self.

It's a good thing too since there is very little in the way of 3rd party utilities for BBBS!

I like Synchronet's mailer, BinkIT along with FreqIT for requests.

Synchronet's TickIT works well to for the file areas.

One thing I can't seem to do with Synchronet is get a nicely formatted file list but maybe I just didn't use the right options.

I believe MeaTLoTioN uses Mystic for two of the hubs (UK & Canada) in tqwNet.

I was using Allfix with Telegard, it worked well enough but couldn't handle long filenames & would sometimes hang if there was ANSI or high ASCII in the file_id.diz.

Long filenames didn't come through very often, mostly from ANSI art packs here in fsxNet. Now that I'm back on Mystic they're handled A-OK.

You can find arrogant people anywhere.

I find Synchronet support to be great. I had an issue recently and once the problem was found the solution followed shortly afterwards.

I'm back with Mystic. Life is too short.

That is not a bad place to be.

I wouldn't abandon Synchronet because a few people that hang around have bad attitudes. Those people have nothing to do with Synchronet development or where it is going.
